***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

Breaking in my new MM Freehand with Haunted Bookshop. What a wonderful cob!

God Bless the US - First Cobs

A tip for you MM cob fans: If you check Boswell Pipes site, they usually have one or two Country Gents with a custom (made by Boswell) stem. They're great stems, and it's nice to know from then on, you can simply replace your cob and switch in the Boswell stem (which will not require, or...

God Bless the US - First Cobs

    I love that analogy

    Greetings From Southwest Pennsylvania

EDIT: I confirmed phone, they are indeed open for business.

    Greetings From Southwest Pennsylvania

You You're right about that I'm overdue. The staff there really knows their stuff, and Saturday mornings usually have some pipe smoking in the lounge (again, assuming they're back open). I actually hadn't been there in some years because I had quit pipes for a while (no idea why). I'm...

    Greetings From Southwest Pennsylvania

Welcome from a fellow Yinzer. Have you been to Allegheny Smokeworks in Blawnox? They have a fairly good collection of bulk tobaccos (in addition to a smaller selection of tinned), and pretty good humidor if you still smoke the sticks. I haven't been there since pre-covid, but I imagine...

    Reccomended Mix

UPDATE: I find PA goes perfectly with Kelly's Coin. 50/50, the taste is still decidedly PA, but even more on the burley side, and with a significant increase in strength. It smokes just as smoothly as PA itself.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

Smoking a 50/50 mix of Prince Albert and Kelly's Coin in a MM cob.

    It certainly does haha

Comment on Three Basic Burley Blends

We are cut from the same cloth. Virtually everything I like is an easy-to-smoke burley based blend.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

That's become my morning coffee blend -- supplanting Five Brothers (which I smoke immediately after anyway lol).

***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

At the same time? I'm impressed!

***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

Haunted Bookshop in a Country Gent w/ Boswell custom stem. It's been a while, I'd forgotten how much I like this blend.

    Chocolate Aromatic Blends

You may want to give Prince Albert a try (or one of the matches). I get a slight top note of cocoa from it, which I believe is intentional in the blend. It's not a "oh! chocolate!" blend, but it's there, just subtle.

Montford Point Marine in a cob (MM Pot O Gold).

    Chocolate Aromatic Blends

That's the first (and only) one that came to mind to me.

First Time Sir Walter Raleigh Review

Yep I do the same thing (preload a pipe for the morning) -- which works great so long as I keep it inside until morning. If left outside, I'll go through half a bic lighter trying to keep it going.

    Reccomended Mix

I'd like to hear from anyone that's got a recommended mix using Prince Albert. I've been meaning to try it with a latakia blend like 10 Russians. I like PA just fine, but you get so much in that tub I'd like to look into using it in a home blend.

First Time Sir Walter Raleigh Review

I really like Granger, but unlike other 'codger' blends, I find I have to dry it a short while before putting in the bowl. Granted, I smoke outside and it's pretty humid here these days.

Navigating through the swells in this strong storm on my ship (okay sitting on my back deck pretending that) enjoying 10 Russians in a cob.
