    Are all CAO Meerschaums stamped?

In my experience, MOST CAO Meerschaums are not stamped, unless have a carvers signature, most often I. Bekler. The case often has an identifying logo or sticker.

Your Favorite Sweet AND Heavy English Blend?

GLP Maltese Falcon might not be "heavy" enough, but does have some sweetness. Worth a try!

    From Turkey - Direct

Bahadir - I bought masspiper's Meerqueen Tekin, but my wife is saving it for my birthday at the end of the month. I'll let you know how I like it then.

    Mysteriously Cracking Meerschaums

Thanks, Bahadir. Always good to get information from you. I didn't know that pressed meerschaum isn't being sold these days ... though certainly on Ebay you'll probably find them.

    Mysteriously Cracking Meerschaums

I agree that your pipes were probably "pressed" meerschaum, not block meerschaum. I've had many meers over the years, more than 100 - none ever cracked.

    House of Calabash

Mr. Books' blends are not inexpensive, but in my opinion, some of the best. For Meerschaums Only is heavenly! His aromatics are also terrific, if you like aromatics.

    Name that Meerschaum

It means, in German,"genuine amber, genuine natural meerschaum."

Show Off Your Meerschaum Pipes Here!

Nice Baki, astrange1! I think meers carved by F. Baki are pretty much the best available today.

    H&H New Blend

I enjoy it from time to time. I think it has been around for a while. Russ?

    Hearth & Home Recommendation?

I think Caramel Aople Pie is a fine aro with a pleasing room note. The 8 oz tin I bought was good to go without any need for drying. Of course, your mileage may vary!

My First Meerschaum. A Fikri Baki!

Great choice! I have several Baki's and I feel that they are the overall best in my collection. You will be delighted!

    PAD: My First Meerschaum!

I'd put a little beeswax on the tenon, usually works for me when the stem is a little loose. Cleaning? After each smoke, I clean out the ash and any dottle (gently) with a pipe tool, and "ream" the bowl with a dry paper towel.

Broken Pipe: Dick "Chief Catoonah" Silverman

I had some very pleasant conversations with the Chief, and greatly enjoyed his blends. A fine and kind gentleman who will be missed.

    Fast Five Final Questions

    1. Baki lattice meerschaum 2. Steven Books' For Meerschaums Only Reserve 3. Black coffee 4. Ipad + jazz 5. Smoking Balkan Sobranie out of a metal pipe at Port Authority Bus Terminal, NYC, 1970, after a concert at the Fillmore East. I got quite a few stares, but no one bothered me.

Take my briar away I don't enjoy it

I switched to "all meers all of the time" about 20 years ago. I know I'm in the minority, but that's what I like!
