    Uhles

I've been smoking Uhle's for years - not as a staple, but when I want a change of pace. Worth trying. I think I sampled all of their blends at one time or another.

alt.smokers.pipes is a primitive, no-frills version of what we've got here.

If God (or ... your wife, or etc) would destine you to have ONLY ONE tobacco.

"For Meerschaums Only" Reserve, blended by Steven Books. I would be delighted to smoke it exclusively.

    Meerschaum maker recommendations

Baki, Altinok, MeerQueen ... I'd start there.

    H&H what is your favorite?

Also a fan of Russ. I think White Knight and Magnum Opus are especially stellar!

If you had to choose only one blender - or blends from one company?

My honest reply is Steven Books/House of Calabash. His blends are stellar. I never tire of them. Enough variety to satisfy.

Very cool and distinctive. Nice one, Altinok!

    House of Calabash

Been smoking Grandfathers Own lately. An excellent aromatic! Steven was kind enough to make a follow up call to me, checking on my recent order ... and talking tobacco.

    Baki PAD strikes again.

I'm smoking a Baki "Bell" right now. Big fan of F. Baki's work! Highest recommendation.

    First Pease Blend?

If you like Frog Morton, you might try Maltese Falcon.

    MeerQueen anyone?

I own one MeerQueen carved by Tekin. No complaints - very good smoking pipe.

    Baki?

I only smoke Meerschaums. I own four Bakis, and they are stellar! Not inexpensive, but in my opinion, worth it.

    IMP Meerschaum Pipes Anyone?

My vote for consistently top quality Meerchaums is the carver F. Baki. http://bestmeerschaums.homestead.com/bakipipes.html And I agree with the Old Cajun, quality ain't cheap!

    IMP Meerschaum Pipes Anyone?

My experience with Meerschaums: each one unique - many variables. I think it is difficult to generalize based on "brand" though a little less difficult to generalize based on the craftsperson who actually carved the pipe. For example, I've probably had at least 30 CAO meerschaums over the...

IMeershaum Pipe. Is It A Winner?

Without seeing a picture, and based on your description (small bowl, screw-in bit), I'd say, yes, you are probably better off looking somewhere else. For $180 I think you can do much better than that. Regarding the maker, Servi pipes are generally considered to be a reliable brand.
