    Grandfather's Spirit Tobacco?

Never tried. Looks like the majority are herbal infused, some natural classic twists, some whole leaf and a few commercial offerings really intended for cigarette rolling. My guess is that the twists might be good, but very strong, the whole leaf great for doing some blending--though likely...

A Newbie Reviews: C&D Billy Budd

It is not new that C&D blends can be a bit "off" right out of the gate. They have been known for using slightly "green" leaf in their blends. They process everything themselves and for the most part it's a made to order company still. Rough cut Burley and Bright VA Flake... yeah, probably could...

best tobacco for getting off cigarettes?

Yep, I'll second... er third... er... well, I agree. Very good point. I didn't even think of those, guess that's how mindless they are. Working on a big issue at work, which usually parks me in front of my computer is a perfect example. You chain smoke without even thinking about it.

    Avatar/Screen Name

Always scraps of tobacco around anywhere I go with my pipe. Avatar... made it from the Peanuts Movie website and drew in the pipe. I figure its a somewhat close approximation of what I look like.

best tobacco for getting off cigarettes?

For me, it's just programmed. There are certain activities that my brain associates with smoking cigarettes. Last time I quit, I had to give up coffee. I couldn't break the connection. When I fell off the wagon again, it was because of being out drinking with friends. Started out with a...

Anyone else feel wierd about smoking an estate pipe?

LOL. I'm fine with them goin awry. Always fun to read... sometimes a bit mundane. Hey, if I don't like it, I'll hit the back arrow.

Quality Of Tobacco - Bulk VS. Tin

Tins are cool. Bulk is cheap. I like tins. I like cheap. I have both.

Anyone else feel wierd about smoking an estate pipe?

Well, that's 5 minutes of my life I will never get back. What was this thread about again??

best tobacco for getting off cigarettes?

Yep, like Piffyr said. No tobacco allowed me to just "drop" the cigs. I got the same sort of feelings that Cosmic did. Would smoke my pipe till my head was spinning and still wanted a cig. For me, it was the nicotine gum that helped me get past these. If it comes down to it and you get hooked...

best tobacco for getting off cigarettes?

When I did it... MacBaren Old Dark Fired. Plenty of nicotine, great flavor and smooth as silk. If that doesn't do it for you, Peterson University Flake, which has a great flavor, or Dunhill Royal Yacht.

    Brands, Blenders and Manufacturers Confusion

I agree. I think that's pretty much what I said, lol. We could all lament about this for days, even weeks. It comes down to the easiest way for TR to categorize tobacco. Doesn't mean it makes the most sense.

    Brands, Blenders and Manufacturers Confusion

I think it's just how TR.com is categorizing things. Listing a manufacturer as a brand is not really accurate. Dunhill would be a brand, not the company manufacturing it.

    Brands, Blenders and Manufacturers Confusion

I don't think they really use the manufacturer, brand, blend labels exactly as they should. Personally, I would not consider Escudo as the brand and Navy DeLuxe as the Blend though. It would seem to me that Escudo is one of those funny ones that would have the brand and blend the exact same.

25% Off All Pipe Tobacco @ Mars Cigars

I jumped on the opportunity. Not a big order, but I got the last 8 tins of Royal Yacht, and the last 3 tins of the C&D Christmas Blend and threw a tin of Pennington Gap in for good measure. Edit: Woops, the discount is already included in the price. No biggie... over $2 cheaper than other...

    Is Wingenroth's Still Open?

Bout an hour and a half from me as well. If I can find some time this week, I might take the journey.

    Solani's Aged Burley Flake

Solani ABF isn't bad, but I find Wessex Burley Slices to be smoother and richer in flavor. YMMV.

Forum Update Idea:. Recommend and Flag posts

There are people that would like to see improvements and others that are fine with the way it is. The simple fact is that either way, it's not going to stop people from coming to or using the site.

    Most Underrated Tobaccos

Shortcut to Mushrooms. I very seldom can handle Latakia anymore, but the combination of Lat and Cavendish is heavenly to me. I salivate for this one sometimes.

Cater Hall with a Dash of 1Q and BCA... Wow!

My most recent practice has been to test out various Aromatic Cavendish blends and mix them at least 50/50 with C&D Cube Cut, which is a mainstay for me. The Cube Cut gives it depth, flavor and strength, and the Cavendish adds a little bit of sweetness and flavor variety. Most recent was 50%...
