Is Pipe Smoking Something That Grows on You?

You might consider seeking the relaxing campfire experience instead of the sweet fruits and spices of aromatics. Right now it's like being too close to the campfire but still OK. Gradually you'll move your chair farther back from the fire and can relax and enjoy the smoke and experience. Then...

Chatham Manor In A MM Special Edition, Yes

I enjoy Chatham Manor for the sweet subdued simple smoke I guess. A small well dried portion goes in the bottom of my pipes for many blends (as dottle I still hope to eliminate some day). On it's own it is a fine smoke and ready to go right from the can/tub. Not a top 10 blend for me but...

    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

In the past couple weeks I picked up a couple tins of 10+ year old Christmas Cheer and a couple McClelland 40th Anniversary. Now I'm done with my unicorns. Seriously, I'm done. Really I am...

    Desert Island Thread

I'd build a giant coconut slingshot to nail those container ships passing by the island then I'd float out and grab up all the HU blends, Capstan, and others originally headed to you folks. ?‍☠️

HU Tobacco -- Need Advice On An Order

Wow. Very nice. I see you'll likely "need" a winter order of several 10 tin or bulk favorites out of that group. Start saving up haha. Anticipating and opening your current order should be great fun.

    Lame Pipe Tobacco Promotions

After reading this thread I'm guessing PipeStud won't be taking my 8 extra ashtrays on consignment... bummer. ;)

    Think I've Got It.

Stronger blends. Train your brain that when the pipe is in hand it's great scotch or bourbon slowly sipping the flavors. Then tell yourself, cigs are your ice cold beer on a hot afternoon. After a while it won't require much thought. Disclaimer... I'm still new to the hobby and not a cig...

    Filter

I use the Medico paper ones that come with some filtered cobs. Only because I can still create lots of moisture (learning process) and I think/pretend it keeps moisture away from the wood. It doesn't alter draw much at all and lately if I don't have one handy I smoke without it.

Filling a Pipe - Rubbed Out and Then Rolled in the Palm of the Hand

Thanks for sharing. I'll be trying that too as I like simple.

    A Small Win

Nice win... communication and compromise. It is the back porch and garage for me. A mini-split AC for garage with some finishing work is a planned retirement gift to me her. We both agree it will help keep me out from underfoot.

    1 Grabow for 1 Year (8/2/19)

Nearly spit out some coffee imagining folks opening the box with the pipe on top with that stained charred note giving them their "mission impossible." Haha Great discipline for sure @didimauw ... The display (probably mentioned before) should be small glass case with a heavy Tamper chained...

Another Reason to Buy Tobacco Now

I'm not sure on retail pricing but as Jim said discounts reduced. I know some were 40 and 50% off with essentially an additional free tin when buying 9+. If I was low on Fredder's or Louisiana Broken I'd still buy them now. For giggles last month vs. now small reference...

Matching Pipes With Tobaccos and Building a Rotation

I can understand that. Opposite issue here as I sit on my back porch in central FL and it's like 90% humidity and "feels like" 95 deg. ? at 10:30PM!

Matching Pipes With Tobaccos and Building a Rotation

^^^^ This... but I don't have a why other than it seemed like a good idea at the time. One decent Sav billiard and a few cobs for aromatics as I don't do aromatics much yet. A bulldog and authors for English/Orientals, and certain billiards and cobs for Va/VaPers. No particular reason and...

    Jim's 46th Pipe Smoking Anniversary.

It's funny I don't feel I have the right to post in this thread being so new. But happy belated anniversary and thanks for taking the time to so greatly assist those in and new to the hobby with your reviews and research/knowledge.

Nice IMCO, copy or not, and hope you get to enjoy the tobacco as well. Enjoy.

    How Deep is Your Cellar?

This post got me curious. I would have said about 25-30 blends max but checking the spreadsheet revealed wow it's 55 blends (minus last Escudo Flakes this AM) so 54 blends at 33+ pounds and with a couple orders out that will be 36+ pounds when Estervals and Smoking Pipes come in. I don't...

What Am I Not Getting About Virginias?

My .01 cent for the Op based on my vast <1 year experience. Capstan Blue Flake is helping me get Virginias and enjoy them. Similar to what @cigrmaster said I use the Stuff method with sprinkles on top in my couple of cobs for Straight Virginias. I still have to punish myself when the bowl...

    First Esterval’s Purchase

Great stuff. My Estervals order was placed April 11, showed ship status on the site April 14/15 then when checking got one or two DHL updates then nothing for 3+ weeks. BUT it was delivered A-OK to FL on May 23rd. Of course that order spawned some serious tobacco love and I now have another...
