How Long Should a Bowl Last?

If the majority of your smokes are of a short length then get a small pipe. I prefer to smoke the whole bowl myself, but relights are fine too. If I don't got alot of time I just choose a smaller pipe. I also smoke in about the 45 min range, I usually smoke medium size pipes but I'm a constant...

    Aromatic English Yea Or Nay

I've been making some full English blends(with Kentucky and perique) and spraying on some tonka bean extracted in bourbon. It's pretty dang good.

What’s Your Favorite “Stress Relief” Smoke?

Something with a punch. I do my own blending so usually that will contain a fair amount of Kentucky and possibly perique.

    Pipe Smoking Must-Do Experiences

+1 for clay pipes. Try a tavern style. Gives you an idea of what most people smoked back before briar became the norm, and a great smoke in its own right, giving a pure flavour which can brighten up certain blends.

    VaPer Recommendations

I enjoyed Dan tobaccos St Bernard flake for a darker rich vaper with lots of fruity notes and a fair bit of perique(and strength)

    Dan Tobacco Old Ironsides

I liked the pouch I tried. Cool and thick smoke, which was main attraction for me about this blend. I noticed the Kentucky coming through about 1/3 in, after the initial lat smokiness mellows out. I'm surprised you don't think of this is a lat bomb as I thought it was a lat slap in the face.

    Nicotine Content Cigars vs Pipes

Because of the fermentation cigars are more alkaline and the nicotine is more readily absorbed. They are also most always a Burley variety which puts them higher than many pipe tobaccos. But there are some strong pipe tobacco and mild cigars, so gram per gram depends, with cigars usually being...

    Canadian Plain Packaging

Really not a fan of the plain packaging (who is anyway?) Makes browsing a selection in some shops virtually impossible. But I've given up on buying processed tobacco in Canada anyway and am just sticking with whole leaf blending/processing and growing my own, so I'm not to bent outta shape...

    Changing Tastes And Capriciousness

I rarely smoke the same blend one after another of my 3-4 bowls a day. So ya I mix it up all the time. I do mostly blending myself though. But I am smoking a heavy English with Kentucky and perique right now again for the second smoke of the day, albeit with a pinch more latakia. So there is...

The Virginia People And The Burley People

Where ya from? I'm in Canada with outrageous processed tobacco prices so I buy whole leaves from the states and experiment myself

The Virginia People And The Burley People

That's where I got the idea for the blend although I haven't tried it. I usually check on tobacco reviews and see what similar blends are out there in what I want to make and go from there. Not too many lat blends without Virginia. And not too many Kentucky heavy ky/va/per. It's true Virginia...

The Virginia People And The Burley People

Yes sometimes as the bowl progresses different tobacco take the forefront, which I like. But generally one will stand out. Usually for me that's Latakia(with orientals close behind) or Kentucky. I have been running low on my Virginia stash, which I was using in all my blends, so now I'm...

The Virginia People And The Burley People

Well, I say condiment but I use closer to equal amounts instead of the majority of the mix being one tobacco. In a ky/va/per it will be around 40-50% Kentucky, 30-40% stoved and/or black stoved Virginia and 20 % perique. If there is no perique it's about 60-70% Kentucky. I have been...

    Genre Dedicated Pipes

I don't smoke straight Virginia much so I have VA/VAPer pipes, which rarely might get a really natural Va/Per/Ky smoked in them. Then I have my "natural pipes" which get my light or no case mixes of Ky/Va/Per. Then I have my flavoured KY pipes (don't smoke regular burley much) I make some...

    Nicotine Buzz From Handling Tobacco

I think it's mostly from handling raw fresh "green" tobacco as that's when you're touching many lbs of it during harvest or when pinching suckers. The leaves are so sticky and a thick layer will build up on your fingers. I've only had a mild effect from it, but I'm only growing for myself.

The Virginia People And The Burley People

I prefer Virginia as a condiment to sweeten things up. Prefer burley as a condiment to strengthen things up. So neither I guess! Haha. Although when we are talking Kentucky burley, I definitely like when that stands out more so than when a Virginia stands out in a blend.

    Private Sales

Family and friends? I wouldn't worry about a gift and donation, just make sure they know to tell anyone it was a gift. And dont "give" to friends of friends. There are alot bigger things on the government's plate than some pipesters trading a few tins of tobacco with no proof or traceable...

    Rose Geranium Oil?

I bought some for scenting tobacco. While it is very perfumy, floral and rose-like. It isn't exactly what I was expecting. I am assuming like all essential oils, the fragrance can vary slightly from brand to brand, but 100% pure is exactly that. As for my experiment, I easily overdid it, and...
