    Clogged Falcon

If not the shank, then check the bottom of the bowl where it meets the center of the humidome. I've sanded the bottom of a falcon bowl before to open up the draw and it worked out nicely.

Motzek - Tom's Twists (Sweet Crushed, Hallo, and Dark)

Wow that dark twist is pretty brutal! I mostly do my own blending and use alot of Kentucky and perique, but I haven't gone to that extreme. Glad to see some blenders are still producing some heavy and stout blends. Nice find!

    Rose Geranium Oil?

Yes it's powerful stuff! I definitely ruined some tobacco myself with experiments, although not 2 oz. I would suggest one drop per tablespoon of alcohol at least(if not 2 tablespoons) I kind of gave up with mine after I botched my one batch, but I might have to bust it out again. I'm interested...

High-End Pipes - Do They Improve the Smoking Experience?

If you are getting enjoyment now out of your pipes then is t necessary? I sometimes find my cob or clay pipe hit the spot just right. I'd say work your way up and grab a nice estate for 100$ or so(the old stanwells are consistent quality) and see if you want to take it a step further. Often the...

    Bjarne Pipe

I have a similar one myself. That's their freehand style, which were more popular back in the day. Not sure what time period. Looks in good shape. Mine has a vulcanite stem that needed a good refurbish. They smoke excellent, although I prefer lighter smaller pipes usually. I also got mine for...

Creative Alternatives to Ziplock Bags for Daily Amount?

The small size square tobacco tins like the capstan or bold Kentucky one work for me. Film canisters are good for a small amount.

Shag Cut, Why Don’t We See It More Often?

I guess also as members have said, shag cuts might do better in wet and humid climates, where a little assistance in burning is needed. A thick flake or plug might take forever to dry in a place with some heavy constant rain or humidity. Also I think shag cuts are somewhat out of fashion...

Shag Cut, Why Don’t We See It More Often?

I think way back when shag was referred to as an inferior tobacco it was more coarse cut and uneven pieces and not exactly the same angel hair strands of most shag today. Please correct me if I'm wrong though! Ive just heard that somewhere.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2020?***

Another blend of mine, this time a va/ky/per. A nice and rich, stout blend. Spicy perique kicks off the bowl with the creamy, fruity Virginia's taking the lead as things smooth, Kentucky adds a little smoky nuttyness underneath it all. -75% black stoved Virginia -10% stoved Kentucky with maple...

Missouri Hard Wood Pipe For a Beginner?

It's going to be very similar(because of the open draw/same design) to the cob. I have both and much prefer the cob. The hardwood is still a good smoker once the cake is built up, but those first few smokes are funky. For not much more money just get a used briar pipe from somewhere and try that...

Any Recommendations for a Struggling Ciggy Smoker?

Well yes make use of the nice weather to get in the pipe habit! And as some other members have said , grab a high octane blend which you can try for quick 10 min smokes and see if that works. Also if inhaling a couple times with a pipe bowl can help you get your fix better, then maybe try that...

***What Are You Smoking, August 2020?***

One of my newest blends. Similar to one of my last, but milder and sweeter. -80% black stoved Virginia -10% black stoved Kentucky cased with maple syrup and bourbon. - 10 % Latakia Dark, sweet, rich and a subtle creamyness. Thin ribbon cut through a chacom grand match(a sort of wide pot shape)

    Success With Pipe Mud!

I just empty my ashtray through a small tea strainer and save up a little container of ash in case I need it. Pipe ash works great for fixes like yours. I've also foolishly cracked the bottom of a pipe one time while smoking to hot when I didn't have enough cake, mudded up the bottom of the bowl...

Any Recommendations for a Struggling Ciggy Smoker?

A big thing that helped me was holding off on the morning cig and going for a pipe instead. It's tempting to get that nic rush with a first of the day ciggy, but try a pipe instead and then see how long you can hold off and just keep reaching for the pipe if you can. That first cig always set me...

    Condimental Amounts

Originally in my experiments I shunned the condimental Amounts and went for more big and bold flavours like a large percentage Kentucky, latakia and/or perique. Even forgoing Virginia all together with some English blends (lat, oriental, perique. Possibly with Kentucky too). But Ive started to...

What Should I Expect with This Type of Pipe?

I've found meerschaum lined bowls to smoke wetter than full meerschaum but since it's a falcon moisture won't really be an issue. Aside from the subtle differences in taste, the meerschaum lined will let you smoke as often as you like with many different blends as it won't ghost much or can be...

    Pipe Tobacco While Working?

Something mildly aromatic with a focus on burley. Macbarens Amphora full aroma? I've only bought it once and probably wouldn't again as it's not for me. But it's burley and Virginia based with a slight topping and some Kentucky and orientals in the mix. Easy going, lightly flavoured with a focus...

How To Remove The White Wax Crust?

Yes just apply some heat, you can even hold it over a burner on your stove if you don't have a hair dryer
