    Penzance look/feel

I’m glad to hear that. Yeah, the first two pictures are pretty much how it looked straight out of the bag; the third picture has been rubbed out.

    Penzance look/feel

I picked up an 8oz bag of Penzance back in, I believe , 2018. Anyways, I saw someone who posted a picture of their Penzance, and it looked absolutely nothing like mine. Perhaps, it was just aged, but the images I saw seemed to be much much brighter? I thought I’d post a picture and see if...

    Bone dry tobaccy

Yeah, that's the other thing... This tin had some decent age on it. I'm smoking some bullseye flake right now, and it's not giving the same experience--I know it's a different tobacco. I'm wondering if age + dryness plays a factor as well. I recently opened a tin of Capstan blue with only a few...

    Bone dry tobaccy

Yup. All these responses were what I was hoping for, and kind of confirm that more often than not, dry is best. Gawith flakes on the other hand, I like moist IIRC, but, I can never keep it light for more than a few moments…

    Bone dry tobaccy

Just finished a bowl of bone dry sixpence. Not only dry but also quite a bit of dust. It was an amazing smoke. I was going to dump it because I thought maybe it was bad, but turned out to be perfect. This tin, if I remember correctly, had something like 7-8 years on it. It had no bite, and...

Tell Me about Sutliff Match Victorian

Yup. It was fun to discover that not all perique is the same. Excited to see how this one turns out in 5+ years.

Tell Me about Sutliff Match Victorian

I have a love/hate relationship with this blend. Last night I realized it's the perique. For some reason it gives me a black cavendish feel in my mouth. When I plucked out the perique, I found that was what I was really after. I really really love the base of this blend, and would buy that in...

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Union Square in an Altinay billiard.

Still waiting on mine. Initial thoughts?

Black Mallory in my Stanwell. Nice subtle change of pace, but I'll only return to this one maybe a few times a year.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Had an excellent bowl of Capstan Blue Flake--deep caramel really shined through.

Old Dark Fired in the 60's Dunhill Bulldog. I agree with the recent sentiment concerning this blend--it's a keeper.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Enjoyed a bowl of Union Square in the AM, and a bowl of SixPence (around 5 or so years old). Excellent smokes!

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Started with some Mississippi River in the Stanwell. I think around 1-2 years of age seems to have changed this quite well--at least toned down the vinegar. Enjoying it!

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Nice! With briar fox, I like that it's just such a straight forward blend: super creamy, some earthiness, and a touch of sweetness, but, that's about it--for me.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2023?***

Been enjoying some briar fox recently. As a heads up, there is Aged Burley Flake available at smokingpipes. Limit of two per day: been waiting a while to grab a tin, so if anyone is interested just doing my community service.

Tilbury earlier in the Altinay, and going to finish the night sharing some Roma Craft cigars.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2023?***

I love the line, but haven't tried this one yet. Going to try and give it a go some time.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2023?***

Some CRF 2022 in my Altinay the night before. Spent a long day hiking with the family, and was privileged with multiple Belted Kingfishers, and at a blue-berry farm, Cedar Waxwings--two of my most anticipated sightings. Tonight, thinking Tilbury or Briar Fox, or perhaps ODF.
