Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

I can respect this notion, however its more pragmatic to minimize ones risk when it pertains to an investment. I can buy one kinda tobacco that is more susceptible to molding or i can buy one that is less so and be more assured, even if its only slightly, that the investment is safe and sound :)

Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

Im definitely a little paranoid when it comes to things I love, that I cannot hide! Nevertheless you all have for the most part assuaged any concerns I have. Truly I appreciate the insights from people undoubtedly more tobacco-wisened than I!

Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

Damn, that's probably the size of my whole cellar. Man, wish I didn't like pease blends so much. Wish he'd quash concerns since i've seen this kinda thing around on various forums and the pipe reddit (concerns about mold). But perhaps that is simply the nature of an extremely natural product...

Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

Well I already have 50 plus tins of gl pease, so im already good and fucked I suppose. Hope that isnt a reflection of your experience though. Does that mean youve had to discard quite a few tins from the C & D blending house? Also thanks alot guys for all of the input for good or for ill!

Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

Wow, thats an exceedingly comforting number. Also all of my tins are from 2017-19 ( havent been cellaring for that long...I think many of us only started recently). Though I did manage to find one tin of plantation evening from 2012, might give that a whirl. Though I honestly prefer tobacco...

Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

Ive always been curious about bijou, since it was for a time trending around the pipesmoking community. However the calamitous release has deterred me even until now. Still the fact that you haven't experienced mold otherwise is reassuring. I hope you don't bristle at my extremely specific...

Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

I have lurked for quite some years now and I know you have historically enjoyed C and D blends and Pease. Would you say your incident of mold has been low-insignificant?

Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

I remember reading about alot of different blends being marred by mold in that time, must have been a bad batch of tobacco. Gonna check my tin dates now

Cornell and Diehl/GL Pease Blends and Mold (Cellaring Potential Input)

Hello guys, recently i had a small scare regarding some Mac Baren virginia. Now I am pretty sure it wasn't mold, however this got me thinking more seriously about the prospect of it. I have a whole host of different tobaccos, however in addition to those i have quite a few tins of GL pease and a...

Mac Baren HH Pure Va Mold?

this tobacco smells amazing, like a honey laden stack of barley, so if thats a definitive indicator than id imagine mold isnt the culprit. Well see, removed the pieces in question and stuck them in a jar by their lonesome so time will tell.

    California SB 793 Update

Wow, this is honestly really refreshing. Never figured id have cause for hope in all of this tobacco legislation nonsense. Makes a man wanna slow down on his cellaring lol

Mac Baren HH Pure Va Mold?

Hey everyone, well see what happens in a month I suppose! Just wanted to say I appreciate all of the insights. Dont think you could find more helpful folk than the guys here on pipemagazine. Thanks for all the assistance. Ill touch base in a month. Hopefully the only thing in the jar is tobacco...

Mac Baren HH Pure Va Mold?

Of course, however if you simply look up "white mold" you can see substances that are...well stringy. How am I to know exactly? Theres several species of mold that could all look stringy.
  14. Sethology

Mac Baren HH Pure Va Mold?

To me its either string that has been intertwined with the tobacco, or is mold that has somehow eaten away at the tobacco enough to become very much entangled with it. So much so that it resembles string. Very confusing, but i guess well see. Might try to get some better pictures
  15. Sethology

Mac Baren HH Pure Va Mold?

Oh well if its actually string that I am indifferent, removing the offending string would be enough. But if its mold ill be perturbed lol. But yes, thankfully it wasn't the poor tobacco harvesters finger in the flake instead

Mac Baren HH Pure Va Mold?

I guess all I can really do is jar all of the flakes up and watch them. If they flower, its mold, if they dont, its not? Still makes me mildly paranoid. Will tread softly around these flakes. A shame and always a little nugget of doubt is planted in my heart when these things happen. I imagine...

Mac Baren HH Pure Va Mold?

heres a picture with a little on one of the flakes. Im hoping youre right, because this is from a whole pound of tobacco all from the same box and that would be majorly disappointing.

Mac Baren HH Pure Va Mold?

Found this peculiar looking stringy stuff that I could uncoil (really reminded me of string, or fabric) amidst a few HH Mac baren virginia flakes. To me im almost having trouble figuring if its mold or if its straight up string- but am leaning towards mold. What do you all say?

    H.R. 2339

So maybe theres hope! Seems like the gridlock will work in our favor. The republicans seem to be voting against it which will help when this bill reaches the senate!
