Future Collectible Pipe Tobaccos, Which Ones?

When someone mentions Captain Black Grape, I get gout.

    FVF - Curious First Impressions

Agree with this. For me, it's hard to get this flake dialed in. Properly prepared and smoked, it's terrific. Otherwise, it's an average smoke and not worth the trouble. I recently ordered and jarred the plug version.

Non-Floral Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Bulk Recommendations?

Good recs. Thanks. I was aiming for a batch of Brown Flake Unscented, but I think the recent promotion incentivized enough buyers to clean SP out of this selection. I'll look into the other options.

Non-Floral Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Bulk Recommendations?

I might want to grab that Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. jar that SP is throwing in with the purchase of $40+ of GH bulk tobacco, but I'm not a fan of Lakeland essences. I assume the unscented stuff is the way to go (although I'm reading that even those blends can be laced with Lakeland aromas). Any...

    Top 3 Straight Virginias

Klondike Gold would be at the top of my list if it was available. Man, that was stuff was good. Otherwise: SG FVF Capstan Blue Tie: F&T Cut Virginia Plug and SG Best Brown Very interested in trying Newminster 400.

    WCC 2022 Mistletoe Jam

Watch City's Mistletoe Jam is not a straight Virginia (I've read it has approximately 5% perique), but to me it resembles those that are milder and slightly sweet. If you enjoy bready Virginias with a sprinkle of sugar and citrus, you'll enjoy this quality leaf. The perique is condimental at...

Your Blend Of The Year 2022

Three blends that are new to me and dominated my rotation in 2022: Match Victorian WCC #558 Doblone d'Oro

    Looking for fruity Va/Per blends

I was going to recommend this as well, but I’m afraid it’s been getting too much attention lately.

    Crushing a Whole Flake

Same here. FVF is a good example. I have not smoked a ton of it, but on the few occasions I get it dialed in, it's divine--moderately dark, lightly sweet, and very smooth. I just can't engineer the experience consistently.

    My New Care Giver

There is a rumor circulating in another forum that SSjones's mother, who is very attractive, is now cigrmaster's caretaker and will be posting photos of herself in this thread. Is this true?

Perique What blend should I try?

Other users have made good recommendations. For me, St. James Flake certainly has a peppery flavor. I think of it as "savory" and lightly sweet. Watch City's 558 (my current favorite) is sweeter; its spice is rather mild. Peterson's De Luxe Navy Rolls fall somewhere in the middle of these two...

A New Addition to My Rotation: Match Victorian

What would really put this over top for me is a tad more sweetness. Maybe a touch of stoved Va.

A New Addition to My Rotation: Match Victorian

I've read this blend ages really well. Does it progressively plumier or sweeter over time?

A New Addition to My Rotation: Match Victorian

Many thanks to forum members for recommending this blend. It's very good. I've been looking for an easy, ribbon-cut Vaper that doesn't include reds or is not red-dominant. For those who are curious: MV is mild, although the perique is not merely a condiment. Some reviews categorize it being more...

    So-So Smoke, Awesome Aftertaste

    I think you're getting a little personal.

Does C&D Night Train Have A Casing?

Good question. I purchased my first tin recently, and I've only smoked two bowls. There is some sweetness, but I'm not sure if its the leaf blend, the casing, or (most likely) both. It's a solid product, though.

Which VaPers Don't Use Red Virginia?

Sidenote – I suspect GLP‘s Telegraph Hill is a blend in which reds are not dominant. I’ve never tried it, and it’s on my radar.

Which VaPers Don't Use Red Virginia?

I’m very sensitive to red va’s as well, and I have no issues with WCC’s Flake #558 (a favorite). Match Victorian is also a good choice. +1 on cigrmaster’s suggestions as well. Regarding GLP’s vapers, I thought virtually all of them have a fair amount reds? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Thoughts on Waltham Broken Cake?

I think this might be considered a light aromatic.

    Thoughts on Waltham Broken Cake?

I recently ordered 4 oz. of Ernie's new blend. Unsurprisingly, this is a quality smoke, but I'm not sure what I think about it. The dark fired component is more prominent than it was in Watch City Slices. For me, dark fired blends are an enigmatic lot. I love Doblone d'oro and enjoy Silver...
