    A Little About Basket Pipes

The best "second" I bought was from Mike Billington at Blakemar Briars. Fully rusticated and smokes like a charm. A bargain at £23.

Idiot Question from a Veteran Smoker

I keep the card on top and transfer to a jar if its gonna be a while before its smoked. My jar of choice is the handy dandy jar that Doewe Egberts coffee comes in. Great seal on a jar that is literally free with my instant coffee.

    Burley issues

Burley causes me a kind of chemical tongue bite. I try and avoid it, but some blends are ok in small doses. I'm ok with Dark fired and Perique though as these are sufficiently FUBAR to not upset my chemistry.

    Borkum Riff Bronze (Bourbon).

So I am exploring the wold of aromatics after a lifetime spent smoking mainly flakes. I always enjoyed Players Whiskey Flake (sadly long gone) and I have a soft spot for whiskey flavored blends. Borkum Riff gets a bad press generally, but I thought I would revisit it in its latest incarnation...

Do you Post Reviews on Tobaccoreviews.com ?

That's bad news. Have Solani messed with 660 Silver Flake or 633 Virginia and Perique ? They are my favorites of that blending house.

Do you Post Reviews on Tobaccoreviews.com ?

That is an interesting viewpoint. I don't always agree with reviews and an example is Borkum Riff Bronze. I bought some aeons ago when I first started out and liked it, but found it to burn too hot. I tried a pouch of the latest iteration this week and it has improved beyond measure. Now...

Do you Post Reviews on Tobaccoreviews.com ?

For some time before joining this forum, I have posted reviews on Tobaccoreviews.com It has been educational in that it has informed my choice of tobacco blends, and also taught me how to filter useful content. At the end of the day any review is subjective, but it has been another aspect in my...

    Hello from Cornwall, UK.

Thankyou. Glad you enjoyed your UK tour. I have never been to the USA but I am envious of your choice of reasonably priced tobacco.

    Hello from Cornwall, UK.

Why thankyou. Not many pipe smokers where I live so good to make contacts here.

    How Slow can You Go?

It took me a long time to realise that a slower cadence was better. I now habitually clench and use the breath method. That and smoking properly dried tobacco has made tongue bite less of a thing. I can get an hour out of a bowl of St Bruno or other good flake tobacco this way. 40 or 50 minutes...

    Hello from Cornwall, UK.

Hi Folks. I have joined the forum today after a long time lurking and gleaning information. I am 61 and a long time pipe smoker who is still learning every day. Favorite tobacco type, VaPer and Straight Virginia and a lover of Plug tobacco and flakes. I also like the odd Aromatic of the...
