Thriving in the Upcoming Tobacco Apocalypse

I was fortunate enough to realize a couple years ago that I was going to consolidate to a half dozen main blends. I have enough of those tobaccos to keep me happy to the day I die. You are correct in many comments, such as tobacco will be there if you are willing to pay for it, artisan blenders...

    Iwan Ries and Milan Tobacconists

3 Star Blue is their best selling pipe tobacco world wide, but they have many 3 Star blends that are very good and all are manufactured by Sutliff.

    Iwan Ries and Milan Tobacconists

With the current uproar about STG buying of MacBaren/Sutliff and the demise of the Sutliff plant, it concerns me as to the future of two of the oldest tobacconists in the country; Iwan Ries and Milan Tobacconists of Roanoke, Va.. I'm not as concerned about Milan, who I buy most of my tobacco...

    Cob>Briar

One thing I do know about pipe smoking is that we over analyze, over complicate and over stress on all aspects of putting tobacco in a pipe bowl and smoking the damn thing. Just enjoy the experience.

    Cob>Briar

There is nothing about a cob that turns me off, but then again there is nothing that turns me on. As a hobby, there is more choices in style and shapes with briar, and overall I think tobacco tastes good in a briar. Some swear by Meerschaum and I don't have anything against them either. In fact...

    Cob>Briar

Cobs are alright. I enjoy my Cobbit Shire occasionally, but overall I don't think cobs are all that and a bag of chips. I would rather have a cheap briar than a cob, but that is just me. Enjoy what you like.

    Dogs & Pipes

Update: Our much loved Quincy crossed the rainbow bridge in April 2024. He was such a good dog. We miss him terribly. My wife had to have another dog so we now have a charcoal Labrador. She is salt and pepper and cuddles with my wife. Sleeps beside her. She loves to fetch and of course, do her...
