    A broken in pipe?

It happens so gradually, it's hard to say. In fact I think a good question would be does a pipe ever stop breaking in? And if so is there a bell curve where it gets progressively better and then begins to deteriorate? Or does it become the best smoker it's going to be and plateau off? A tale...

    What's the deal with Pokers?

I recently got my first poker. For years I have not cared for them without ever owning one. Now I am a dyed-in-the-wool convert. It has instantly become one of my favorite pipes. The only problem is...now I want more of them !

Is Dans Blue Note supposed to be this dry?

That Solani 660 looks pretty suspect too...maybe you should send it to me to check out.?.!

    Peterson question

Ditto, I've never seen one. As far as cleaning goes, search salt & alcohol treatment, for the bowl, run some alcohol dipped cleaners through the shank and stem, and it will be good enough to smoke. If it has serious ghosts you may need to set up a retort or use activated charcoal (info about...

    The Funny Bone

So, jokes making fun of the mentally handicapped don't offend any thin skinned whiners enough to get deleted, but ones about retiring do? I don't understand this world anymore...sigh

    Forever Stems?

I love 'em. As far as how they compare to the MM stems, well there's no comparison. They are real acrylic stems as opposed to the ones from MM.

November 1st Show with Tad Gage

Just got done listening to the show. Great interview, if I could request follow-up questions, I would love to hear more about the process of developing his 3 oaks blends. I think people would really love to hear some behind the scenes stories about how our favorite (or not so favorite) blends...

    Oxyclean vs bleach

I've used straight bleach and oxy-clean, they both do the job. Neither will get rid of oxidation, it seems like they just pull it to the surface and make the rest of the treatment easier. Magic eraser and micro-mesh is where you make your money.

    Peterson Metal Band fell Off

Never had this happen but my immediate reaction would be to send it to a reputable repair shop like Walker Briarworks. Unless returning it to the seller is a more attractive option. I just re-read your op, how old is the pipe? When you said unsmoked estate I assumed older pipe, but you seem...

    Cobs vs Briars

@jud, my thoughts exactly. on both sides of the fence are green pastures and rainbows.

    McCranie's

Anyone smoked their House Brand pipes? I'm particularly attracted to the Italian-made rusticated lovat currently on the site.

    Cobs vs Briars

Whichever one you enjoy smoking the most is the best! Personally I think they both have a place, I have several cobs and they are associated with some of my favorite memories like camping with my dad and uncle, fishing, and paddling. Not only do they smoke well but they also conjure up...
