I’m not sure of that difference. But there was a time when the Guinness in South Africa was brewed in Namibia and exported down south. Just as tasty to me. Stolen or Style or Innovation
It’s the rough plateau, with the texture left as it was, not sanded smooth away. That spot has a darker brown walnut/chestnut stain. It’s not clear to see, my fault. My photograph is lacking in lighting and quality. -

Nice. That pipe shape, bowl with “more meat” and the bent shank and bending stem, looks familiar. I have a Tim West that has a similar design. I got it in 1991. It looks like this, and has a spot of plateau grain on the bottom of the bowl. -
