What's the Goopiest Aromatic You've Ever Tried?

    Probably Sutliff’s Christmas Spice

Another thing Austin, 2 things that beginning pipe smokers make a huge mistake of and ultimately leads them to stop pipe smoking is, 1.)- thinking you have to smoke the entire bowl without relighting, and 2.)- thinking you’re supposed to have HUGE barrels of smoke bellowing out of your mouth...

Sadly Dunhill tobacco is gone but the Scandinavian Tobacco Group, or STG, that made them in the later years, reintroduced a lot of their blends under the Peterson tobaccos. The ones they brought back are the exact same blends, just under the name Peterson now, and good luck with Esoterica’s and...

Ya FVF is the only straight Virginia, that I’ve smoked at least, that I recommend drying for at least an hr or so. All other Virginia’s I smoke straight from the tin and do not dry at all, to get the most from their nuances. 90% of what I smoke is straight Virginia’s. Good straight Virginia’s to...

I’m one of the rare few that doesn’t get the religious following of FVF... I just don’t get it.... it’s not bad, but I think there are so much more “run of the mill” straight Virginia’s, that are way better! Haha

    Which are the Keepers?

Quiet nights is one of the only English blends that instantly reminded me of Penzance when I first smoked it. Very good! And Union Square is in my top 10 favorite tobaccos of all. A very good, complex, yet simple straight Virginia blend.

Welcome from Fresno, California! Like everyone else said, smoke s..l..o..w.... if you like aromatics, choose a high quality one like any from Lane Limited, I prefer RLP-6, and a nice mild English like Sutliff match 20, and wait on the Virginia’s until you master a slow, patient smoking cadence.

    Newb Here, from DFW, TX.

Welcome from Fresno, California! Smokingpipes is my preferred source as the customer service is top notch! I won’t get into details, but customer service has gone far and beyond what they should, and as a result, I’ve become good friends with some of them. Also, when you work your way into...

    New to the Group

Welcome from Fresno, California! And welcome to the beautiful misery of the briar. ;) or Cobb, or meer, or clay, etc.! Haha

    Hey All! Smoking Old Ironsides

Welcome from Fresno, California!! I smoked old Ironsides for years, the old CAO imported stuff out of my first Bing’s Favorite Savinelli I bought when Savinelli first came with them in the early 2000’s. Good, rustic, old school tobacco.

Solani 656 Aged Burley Flake - Share Tastes?

Aged burley flake is one of my favorite blends of all time!! And this is coming from a guy that smokes straight Virginia’s 90% of the time! One thing I’ve noticed with it, is it’s fantastic in a briar, but in a meerschaum, I’ve noticed VERY strong notes of true cinnamon flavor that will pop out...

    Meer Is Being Weird

Looks like they made a meer resembling John Wilkes Booth’s hand!

    Meer Is Being Weird

I have found the same issue with the couple of meers I have, and was quite confused as well. Lol I while them after every bowl, but they build cake 10 times faster than all my briars! Weird huh?!

    Christmas Cheer

I’ve been dabbing sparingly into my 2005 vintage I popped recently and it’s phenomenal. The sugars have crystallized nicely, it’s slightly sweet, slightly woody, deep, and the tin note and taste is very spicy! Baking spices that is. Nutmeg, all spice, cinnamon, and the hint of something green...

    Pipe Tobacco in the 1920s

It’s worth a try if you haven’t had it before. It’s history and heritage in your bowl.

    Smoking A Pipe Since 1963

Welcome from Fresno, California! That’s quite a history you have there and very neat!

    New Here from PA

Welcome Andrew, from Fresno, California! When I first started smoking a pipe 18 years ago, I did the typical thing of horrible tobacconist aromatics, then moved to and fell in love with heavy English blends a year or so later, and then about 6-7 years ago, I got into Virginia’s, slowed my...
