Wanna step up from Captain Black White

I find 1Q a bit bland and much prefer RLP-6 LL-7 and 1M are also good. I like Macbaren original choice and Macbaren seven seas black with a 9mm filter. Both of these have Cavendish made with Virginia. Makes it a much fuller thicker smoke for me. I also recently tried the Amphora black and...

FDA Regulations: New Article Aug 2, 2016 by Tom Wolfe

Thanks Tom Wolfe, I found your article summed things up nicely and I posted a link to it on my Yahoo Australia pipe smokers forum. When referring to vintage tobacco, I was meaning in a secondary market sense similar to estate pipes, but its not usually called estate tobacco. The product has...

FDA Regulations: New Article Aug 2, 2016 by Tom Wolfe

Corrected version - Did they do their research before making these new regulations? Did they even know artisan pipes and pipe makers existed? Did they know about the yearly limited once off holiday pipes made? Did they know about the yearly limited once off holiday pipe blends? Did they...

What is your pipe for english?

My Peterson system 303 rusticated with vulcanite fishtail stem, loves Latakia/oriental blends. I found that Latakia/oriental blends in particular tasted really bad if there's is too much moisture at the bottom of the bowl. The Peterson system helps with this and I find it tastes better at the...

Recreating the Original 3 Nuns - Perique + G&H Curly Cut? How Much?

Here's my original email from a few years back - I really like my vapers and have read much about the legend of Three Nuns. The word is that the old version is far superior than what's produced today. The tinned version made by orlik and sold in the EU. The pouch ready rubbed version sold in...

Recreating the Original 3 Nuns - Perique + G&H Curly Cut? How Much?

Those that have said the casing/topping is what makes three nuns are correct. I have some old tins. Spent a lot of money on ebay to get them. The old Three Nuns has a certain rich rummy tobaccoey taste and aroma that I haven't found in any other blend. Its a bit sweet and spicy at the same...

What Brought You To The Pipe?

For me it was the amazing, sweet aromatic aroma. To this day it is very unique and when you smell it, your looking for the guy close by with the pipe. That was in days gone by, sadly this doesn't happen much anymore. Also the Sherlock Holmes story's sparked an interest. -Tim

    Are there Any High-Nicotine Aromatics?

I've recently discovered Samuel Gawith Celtic Talisman. Its the best cherry blend I've tried. I noticed it has more nic than other aromatic blends. Its not high nic probably medium, most aros are mild nic so this was an added bonus to me. -Tim

A Couple Older Pouches - Prestige Mixture And Blend 11

I have tried blend 11 from an old pouch brought to a club meeting. It's Cavendish style blend similar to one of the lane offerings like LL-7 1Q or RLP-6 or Sutliff 1-M The bowl I tried had lost a lot of its flavour due to age though. Nothing worth missing as others I have mentioned are better...

Bee's Waxed Hemp Wick Pipe Lighting

lol. let me reword that. "The idea is you light a candle, then light the wick with the candle and light the pipe with the wick. You can then use the candle to light the wick as many times as you want" -Tim

    Smoking Not Pleasant Need Advice

I had the same problem when I started. Then I started smoking my aromatic blends in a 9mm pipe with a 9mm Stanwell charcoal filter. Much smoother smoke, less lounge bite. Try Dunhill's Early morning pipe in a non filter pipe, good introduction to a smooth bite free English oriental blend and of...

Bee's Waxed Hemp Wick Pipe Lighting

I've tried this. The idea is you light a candle, then use the wick and the candle to light the pipe, from then on. So you only use your lighter or match once to light the candle. It was fun for a while but I went back to my lighters out of habit and convenience. But thanks for reminding me...

    Melbourne Australia

Try to avoid using the word "Tobacco" when labelling the parcel. Use "Pipe Supplies" "Hobby Supplies" or something like that. Enjoy your stay and be prepared for hot weather :) New years eve got to 42c in some places. -Tim

    Melbourne Australia

I'm from Melbourne. There isn't much in the way of pipe tobacco here, Cignal Frankston is your best option. The guys at Cignal Frankston are really friendly and helpful. I would call ahead to make sure they have want you want in stock, as its a 50min drive from Olinda to Frankston. You can buy...

Need your expert help before ordering

My suggestion would be Dunhill Early Morning Pipe. Nice rich complex flavour and smooth. I smoke it in a rusticated fishtail Peterson 303 system pipe and both tobacco and pipe are a perfect match. Cheers -Tim
