What are You Listening to - Jan 2022

And my jaw hit the floor yesterday when this came on the radio. For 25+ years I thought it was a Trumans Water track!

What are You Listening to - Jan 2022

A friend linked me to this yesterday. Not one of his I'd come across before:

What are You Listening to? ~ Dec. 2021

Bit of Leron to get into the zone...

    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

I agree. I think in the UK Gawith's were the only ones holding out with the warning labels, keeping them to an outer card box that each tin came in, rather than on the tin itself. So maybe its a cost thing?

    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

Can anyone confirm that Germain's Medium Flake and Peacehaven are nigh identical?

What is the Worst Pipe Tobacco You have ever Smoked?

Jack Knife Plug. No matter how I smoked it, it always tasted like ash with a free complimentary headache.

Aromatic Blend that has Depth and Complexity.

I guess it depends what you mean by an aromatic. Germains is my staple and half of that is unofficial aromatic territory.

    GH Kendal House, Initial Impressions

Definitely undemanding! So much so I've used it as an ultra smooth rolling tobacco in the past.

    GH Kendal House, Initial Impressions

Nice direct review! So would you say once the initial choc's burnt away it's got more of a muted straight profile a bit like Uncle Tom's Mixture?

Favorite First of the Day Smoke

My absolute fave format for 'first of the day' owes itself to the unsurpassable At the Back of the Hill blog. His writings on Hong Kong milk tea led me to start brewing my own. So now a piping hot cup of that with Bob's Chocolate Flake is an extraordinarily indulgent way to start the day. The...

Who got a New Pipe for Christmas?

No pipe, but gifted my brother-in-law some German's Rich Dark Flake, Bob's Choc Flake and a tin of Stonehenge...his first ever flakes. Unfortunately before I could shout out 'cellar it' he'd popped the tin! I got a pinch of his preferred Mac Baren's Original Choice which I look froward to trying.

What are You Watching, 2021? Rating [*/5]

Watched the extended version of Lynch's Dune from 1984. Awful prolonged intro at odds with the style of the rest of the film. The intermittent commentary is pretty jarring. Lynch was right not to want anything to do with it. 3/5

Anybody Find Small Pipes a PIA to Smoke?

Small bowls for me. Group 1s through to 3s. Must be my smoking style but wider, bigger bowls seem to endlessly go out on me.

    Esterval’s Service

Completely agree. I liked the original Fayyum's Kake and Directors Cut but the stuff I've tried since has been, as you say, nothing special.

Your Pet Peeves with Pipe Smoking

Not finishing it when I should have. Persisting with the bottom of the bowl to the point where it tarnishes my memory of the smoke. Smoking my own spit remains an acquired taste (pun intended)

    My New Punto Oro Gold.

The only punto oro I had was an estate with too too large a bowl but that one looks spot on.

    Brewing Breakfast Tea

Sometimes I have mine Indian style - loose leaf put into a mix that's more milk than water and simmered with ginger and cardamon for a good while. Whatever works!
