    Balkan Sasieni

Some Syrian, perhaps, if you could get it. Personally, if you haven't tried McClelland's Wilderness, I'd recommend giving that a shot first.

    Balkan Sasieni

Balkan Sasieni is nothing like Balkan Sobranie. Whereas I've smoked plenty of Sasieni I have only smoked a few bowls of Sobranie (which was quite aged). This biggest difference between the two is that Syrian latakia played a crucial role in Sobranie whereas the Sasieni mix hasn't any.

    Erinmore mixture 50g

If you're a fan of Peterson's University Flake Orlik Golden Sliced you'll likely enjoy Erinmore Flake. I've heard the topping to be either pineapple or apricot. There's a picture of a pineapple on the tin, so that's what I tend to think of with this flake.

What Aromatics are good for a new pipe smoker?

Oh, and 1Q is Captain Black Royal. Indeed, it's popular.

What Aromatics are good for a new pipe smoker?

If you are only smoking aromatics I don't think it matters too much to dedicate particular blends to specific pipes unless a certain blend is sauced/cased/topped with a component especially prone to ghost.

What Aromatics are good for a new pipe smoker?

I think the Mac Baren 7 Seas series is good and I'll second the Vanilla Cream Flake recommendation.

Choosing a Pipe for a beginner

Get a corncob. They smoke well, are easy to maintain, and are a terrific bargain, especially if you are still not certain about how committed you are to the habit/hobby.

    James Fox Tobaccos

    Still got it here.

    Just Learned About Niccups

I used to get the hiccups when I first started smoking a pipe in the late 1990s. Back then I was a cigarette smoker too, so I'm sure (in my case) the hiccups had nothing to do with the nicotine. I think my hiccups had to do more with the way I smoked my pipe. I never get those hiccups anymore...

February 2011 - What are you smoking? II

Old Penzance in a 4103 Dunhill.

    Firefly

This was a great show. Of course, I'm biased because I'm a huge fan of Joss Whedon. Anyone see/read/enjoy any of his other stuff?

    First Estate Pipe Guidance

Unclearthur's SOP is right on. Don't forget to ream the drafthole (unless, of course, it doesn't need it)!

    Absinthe

Yeah, but I was kind of joking. I couldn't help myself.

    Absinthe

If you can find absinthe that has a high thujone count then, yes, it can be rather 'mind altering'. Certainly not as potent as some hallucinogenics. Most absinthe has a fairly high proof. Generally, I think people stop drinking the stuff when they're drunk. However, you must consume a lot of...

    Absinthe

Absinthe is really great stuff, but most of what is being imported in the U.S. is not very great, in my opinion. A lot of it is flavored with anise, colored with green dye, and, by Federal law, contains no more than 30mg of thujone. In fact, many of these absinthe offerings aren't even made from...

Review of Fribourg And Treyer Cut Virginia Plug

F&T's Cut Virginia Plug is my favorite straight Virginia flake. Very good stuff.

    How to date a tin?

Fred's got it. Also, many tins simply cannot be dated. Mac Baren finally started dating their stuff awhile back, C&D's used a couple different methods over the years, but a lot of the stuff coming from the UK/Denmark arena can be rather trick to identify to date.

    Sexiest woman ;)

I'll second Janine Turner. Loved her on Northern Exposure.

    Collin's PAD Issues for 2011

Nice looking Yachtsman. I'll bet you'll be able to get some of that rimming charring off. With a nice buffing much of that grain will really comb out. Smoke well?
