    Hermit Works before 2010

I have one partial tin left that i've been slowwwwwwwly smoking from my last jar. It is their Happy Holidays Blend from 2001. Love this stuff. Too bad i didn't cellar this one a bit deeper back in the day!

Mixed Navy Flake and Old Dark Fired

Interesting mix. I typically enjoy ODF so much solo i haven't blended it. Usually my "bumper tobacco" is either Rustica or Bold Kentucky to add a kick to a blend with good flavor but in need of a punch.

***What Are You Smoking, September 2024?***

Mid-day, after handling some important business, is this much anticipated bowl of Blakeney's Best Slice (aka McClelland Bayou Slice) from 2011 in a smooth HS Pipe Studio reverse calabash ball.

    Got a Tom Spanu pipe

Nice grain, beautiful shape and great price. Hard to beat that! Enjoy... :)

    Cold Storage

As with wine and cigars, I'd think it better to store tobacco in a more regulated environment without drastic swings in temperature. A room temp, dark closet in the house would be much preferred, IMO. However, from what i've read, heat is more of an issue than cold with respect to negative...

***What Are You Smoking, September 2024?***

Finally getting to the after-breakfast smoke today. A bowl of Salty Dogs in a Celebi meer, then off to handle some business.

Ah, ok. I have a few from them as well: Cinar, Fatih and H Ege. All are excellent smokers. Great pricing and some very skilled carvers there. Very nice!

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

    Love this stuff! Enjoy, mate!

    Preference: Rubbed or Doubled?

Straight from the tin or jar; roll them longwise, fold them in half, give a little twist back and forth and stuff. Remove anything sticking up from the bowl and, if necessary, adjust diameter of the roll if it's too tight and remove a little from the side before stuffing. You don't want them...

C&D Golden Days of Yore is out

Not my cup of tea, but i did enjoy the Corncob Pipe and a Button Nose, surprisingly.

    The Country Squire Jackson, Mississippi

Great retailer. Have really enjoyed their Cowboy Coffee and King's Highway blends. Would certainly recommend those! :)

***What Are You Smoking, September 2024?***

Is that an AND pipe? I've been eyeing those for a while now. Waking bowl today was Cowboy Coffee in a Savinelli pot. 2nd bowl this morning, still before breakfast, is this small bowl of Virginia Squire in a Rad Davis freehand with coffee. Trying to get motivated to do the eggs and bacon.

Show Off Your Castello Pipes Here!

Great feast for the eyes this thread was. I've always loved the look of Castello's chunky pots and smaller military billiards. Especially with the deep, craggy rustication and dark stain w/ smooth rim. Sharp. Currently, about 1/2 my collection is Italian. They know how to make a dang good...

    Cob Hazing.

I've picked up 4 cobs over about an 18 or so year span. Gave one to a friend that was living out of his van at the time i was building my house, gave one to a family member and kept 2. They certainly have their merits; chief among them being price, durability and great simple engineering...

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

AVO time today while taking a trade package to the post office.

***What Are You Smoking, September 2024?***

Thanks! It wasn't advertised as a cobra, but as a freehand. I do, however, appreciate the unique design. Very ergonomic...fits perfectly in the left hand and the right sided cant on the bowl makes for effortless lighting. Also very light weight and great for clinching. It's barely over 30...
