    A Pipe Smoker's Vices

I don’t really know. I started about September of last year. I’ve got 6-8 boxes full. So many lbs. and I have a 4 drawer system for my daily go to. Top is Virginia based, 2nd is English/Balkan, 3rd is Burley/Kentucky etc, 4th is a catch all. Aromatics I don’t smoke anymore but give away...

Question About Heat / Flame To Raise Dents On Vulcanite Stems...

Yeah. I’ve been using a lighter. Tried a candle. How long are you doing it for? Are you slowly heating it or putting the flame to it? I try to go just before it’ll bubble or burn and move the flame around to prevent that. Anywhere from 5-20 seconds depending how hot it gets. Not sure why I’m...

Question About Heat / Flame To Raise Dents On Vulcanite Stems...

Hey guys, I’ve seen this done many times and again, reading a rebornpipes article, he explains it and they always seem to get a good result from this. At least enough to lessen any sanding needed. I am pretty experienced in most restoration and I just have never seen a difference when I try...

I Cannot Register At PipeMakers - Advice?

Hey guys, so over the last year, I’ve tried to register over at pipe makers forum and I get to the point where it says “awaiting admin approval” and I never hear back. I’ve tried different emails and stuff to make sure it’s not my side. I can’t imagine why he’d deny me. I’m wondering are they...

    Love for Lovats, Anyone?

I have quite a few Kaywoodie Lovats and a nice straight grain one from someone else. I’ve sold a lot of them. I love working on them for some reason. My regular lovat is my Penzance pipe. :)

What Do You Do with Residual Crumbs?

I don’t get much but if there’s a bit left in the jar, I’ve been putting it into a 4oz jar I labeled Virginia Surprise. Any Virginia or VaPer goes into it. Haven’t had it yet though. Only been doing that a few months.

Favourite Dad Moments as a Pipe Smoker?

As a Dad and being in the pipe business a bit, my 7yr old loves the smell of tobacco. Not smoke, I don’t smoke around him but when I’m packing a pipe ... he goes “oh that’s the good smelling one.” And it’s def never aromatic. He says that about dark flake, English and a good Virginia.

    Esoterica: What is Your Favorite?

Well, Esoterica is dropping again. I bought a lb of Pembroke. Really I just want some “and so to bed”. Though I would like another Penzance and some Dorchester. sobranie is one my real faves for balkans. Turbotin is an easy way to locate esoterica for those who’ve asked. It’s not perfect but...

    Re-Staining An Estate Pipe

I’ve restored about 100 this past year and a half. Stained about 30 of em. Fiebings dye. Often times if they’re old enough, just a light sanding then Tripoli buff it. Lots of color comes back from the wax base. Find I don’t need to stain a lot that way. Sorry I didn’t read each post on...

Some Restorations I’ve Done this Past Month

Thanks. I am a fidgety person. I can’t just sit still and watch tv or for anything. It keeps my hands and head busy so patience isn’t even a thing I guess. Except watching endless how to videos and articles. Lol. I did a 45 Dr. Grabows video actually a couple weeks ago foe the YTPC. It’s...

Some Restorations I’ve Done this Past Month

That’s called the yacht i believe. It is shape #1 for Kaywoodie! It’ll be on my Etsy site sometime in the next week or so. I just haven’t had time. Homeschooling my son and working too. Never enough time. :) I do all the stems by hand too. It takes like 2 hours each. I have a wheel lol. No...
