    As a newer pipe smoker (5 years) I wish the old gaurd would pass down the knowledge accumulated to us younger smokers to be able to preserve like a museum the history that some collectors have that no others do.

    Shoot!!! smoke a "Bones" (bones) pipe and you'll understand a stem is just a pretty addition to an already beautiful object. The first time I smoked a pipe without a stem ( just straight briar ) I was astonished how nothing at all about the enjoyment of a pipe is lost if no stem is used.

    Just got my tin of V I'm holding of on lV but it looks like there is much more of the IV then the V out in the wild. I don't know the run of V it doesn't say on the tin I have so I'm just going by the numbers at tobacco pipes. They have way less of the V the IV. I'm debating opening it maybe soon.

    Old Joe got me off cigarettes for the most part. It belongs in a special category for me as it was exclusively what I smoked for the first few months of my pipe adventure. It can get strong in a large bowl but groups 1-4 pipes shouldnt be to much for a smoker of tobacco to handle.

    All I can say is, we smart asses might me proven wrong in the future so I'm not gonna say ya or na to the O.Ps question, but rather leave it to the people in the future to tell me I was dumb for smoking black stem pipes 😆 or a genius for smoking amber stems.
