That would not work in this case. When briar shanks break they must be glued together first, then drilled to the SS tubes OD, and the tube glued/inserted. Drilling both pieces first, inserting the tube "plug style" and then gluing, will never line up. The reason being that drill bits...- georged

Patent Dunhill Extra Shape Number?
Most likely a distribution number of some kind. "Extraneous" stamps are not common with Dunhills, but they aren't rare, either. The ones that have been tracked down over the years usually boil down to being part of a lot or shipment for a particular wholesaler. -
Frog Morton's Cellar and C&D Star of the East Flake
I found a sealed, undamaged, 50 gram tin of each in a box while looking for something else. The FM is from Jan 2012, and the C&D from Nov of 2006. I have a 7-day set of 120's that range from 1924 to the 1970's, and covers all the finishes that were available during that time. Also have a Sasieni VL from the early 1930's. Wonderful pipes one and all. Recommended. My favorite of the bunch is the Sasieni, though. 😍 Fantastic...- georged
