Quitting Cigarettes and Smoking a Pipe Instead

I'd recommend a snuff to curb the cravings. I have not had any time to enjoy a pipe, but snuff has kept me from craving nicotine. It almost does the job too well.

    Quick Smoke Tobaccos

I usually reserve this quick-smoking thing for latakia blends. I occasionally like the flavor of latakia but I get bored of it quickly, so if I know I do not have a lot of time, or if it's cold outside I'll smoke a pinch of something latakia and be thankful when it's over.

    Pipes You Don't Smoke?

Half the pipes I own I don't smoke. Not that I haven't smoked them. I just don't like them that much or I really liked them at one point, and now I don't enjoy them anymore. I keep some of them around for sentimental reasons, but they live in a shoebox. Take my profile picture. Im smoking a...

***What Are You Smoking, January 2023?***

Smoking some Bold Kentucky in a Blackmeerschaum Freehand. I'll probably follow it up with a bowl of Presbyterian Reformation.

    Calling Aristocob

Have you tried to DM him on IG(if you have Instagram?) Is there a reason you need to speak to him, not that it's any of my business but since you've posted your need to speak to him I figured Id inquire about the urgency.

***What Are You Smoking, January 2023?***

I am killing a tin of Burley Flake no1 by C&D. I don't even bother jarring this blend because of how fast it goes. Besides 1792, this tobacco could be a desert island blend for me. Smoking it out of a Dagner cob.

I must be doing something wrong.....

I agree. It becomes a knack after you do it enough. I find packing is really about draw resistance, quantity, and how dry the tobacco is. Practice makes perfect.

    Savinelli Dropped on Floor

I'd say it's fine. My dog knocked a pipe out of my hand recently and it broke. Now I wouldn't have been concerned had it not been my Dad's birthyear pipe. One day I'll get it repaired. I usually now smoke a cob when I'm with the dogs, so I don't have a repeat.

Making the Most of a Ghost

I have an old Peterson that I smoke 1792 out of exclusively. I put other dark-fired blends into it and it's divine.

    What are Your Hobbies?

I dig the phantom, and want to get one into the collection. Rubik's cubes are great, especially for learning. You don't have to go fast.

    What are Your Hobbies?

My brain hurts looking at this. I'm still tinkering with my megaminx. 3x3s are easy, but I love them so. I've got cubes everywhere around my house and love getting a quick solve in whenever I see one laying around the house.

    Reintroducing Myself.

I do remember you talking about how great 1792 was back when I was a lurker. Now it's one of those blends I don't have enough of.

    Reintroducing Myself.

Besides 1792, I'd recommend HH Bold Kentucky or Old Dark Fired. They are great representations of Dark Fired blends that I reach for.

    Reintroducing Myself.

I'll try not to grammar too badly. I write a lot for work and often it's exhausting trying to keep on top of a .01% margin of error. I am also from BC, Canada.

    Reintroducing Myself.

Thanks for the warm welcome back, getting ready to walk the dogs and smoke a bowl of something tasty along the way.

    Reintroducing Myself.

Title edited. See Rule 9. And where do you live? Hey, I used to frequent the forums some time back. I never felt I had a lot to contribute to the forums being a new piper. Well fast forward and I've definitely found my place and feel I have gained some experience. I've developed a love of Dark...

One of the best shows I’ve ever seen??

    First Pipe in 2 Years....

I’m pretty sure Dark Star is a fire retardant.

Are You Purchasing More Or Less Tobacco Currently?

Glad youre still going at the cubes and puzzles. Currently working on a megaminx I got for my birthday. Im still buying tins, though I seem to be putting more of my tobacco money into my favorite cigars. Ive definitly got enough to last me quite a while. It may not outlive me, but I certainly...

    Wife Found My Stash

I don’t hide my tobacco buying or anything pipe related. It’s so normalized in my house at this point that my wife suggests going to buy cigars or having a look at pipes, and I have my kids helping me with restorations.
