    Sell Me On Clay Pipes

If you’re trying to evade capture by some government agency, you can get rid of your finger prints pretty quickly with a clay pipe. The staggering temperatures a clay pipe will reach with even the slightest puff will eradicate any identifying marks most anywhere on the human body. They can also...

    Block Meerschaum

"pressed" meer is still carved, it's not molded into a pipe shape. They press it into blocks and then carve the block just like regular meer. That is a clay pipe, not a meerschaum.

I'm not 100% sure but it looks like it was done by hand with an annular rusticating tool.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

It does say some of these were made in the 60's. It could have been re-lined by dunhill at some point as well. The hole in top is correct, so it looks legit.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

If it has a case with Pat. No. 141486/19, it's from 1920 onwards. These cases received the Royal Warrant label (see notes 8). |8 In 1921 the Royal Warrant was received by Prince of Wales and his Royal Crest was used up to 1936. In 1938 the Royal Warrant was received from the new King George VI...

Converting a non-filter pipe to filter?

This gets covered pretty frequently, the short answer is no. The stems and shanks are generally to small to accommodate the drilling necessary to facilitate a filter. The long answer is sometimes it is possible, but it would cost more than it would to just buy filter pipes. There a lot of...

Building Large Pipe Racks For Large Pipes.

Set up a fence on my drill press with incremental spacing laid out on it. I used a large bullnose router bit. I used the quill depth stop to ensure they were all the same depth.

To buff the oil finish? I just used an old tee shirt wrapped around a wad of red shop rags, like a giant French Polishing pad.

My newly acquired 1989 Sherlock Holmes, Baker St Junior. A fairly uncommon pipe as the 1989 Junior run of Sherlock’s was fairly limited.

I managed to fill it completely with Petersons. 😂 Now I just need to knock out the three other racks that go with it.

Building Large Pipe Racks For Large Pipes.

My pipe collection has gotten to a point where I needed to do something different with my pipe rack situation. My cabinet has far more pipes in it than it has rack space and many of my pipes are just too big for the the racks I currently have. I also wanted to be able to put cased pipes in...

    Latest Pick Up

I've restored a number of slicers and plug cutters but the Yankee No.0 is by far my favorite. Here's one I did last year. https://pipesmagazine.com/forums/threads/%E2%80%9Crestoring%E2%80%9D-a-19th-century-yankee-no-0-plug-slicer.96549/

    Old Kaywoodie Pipe Lighter Help

To piggyback on what @Humblepipe said, I tried in vain to get parts for that same KW lighter. I fought it to no end and was ultimately unsuccessful and unable to get the parts I needed.

    Harbor Freight Buffing Wheel

Actually smaller is better, you can compensate for high RPM by using a smaller wheel. It reduces the SFPM (surface feet per minute) The larger the wheel the more SFPM you have the more aggressive it will be. The smaller the wheel the fewer SFPM the less aggressive it will be. If you run a VFD...
