    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

That's a bummer! Would goggles help?

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

Just had two very nice bowls of GLP géométrie in my English cob, which I guess I left out of this picture. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, since Izmir alone tends to give me those “burning autumn leaves” vibes, but the red Virginia and Basma really work to smooth off those rough edges.

    As i smoke my pipe

The most damaging stress is worrying about things you have no control over.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

My brother-in-law stopped over, and I felt it was a good occasion to crack open my tin of GLP géométrie from right around the time it was released: We both really loved it, and I sent the remainder of the tin home with him. I’ll be ordering more.

    Alternatives to GLP Odyssey

Welcome. What all else have you tried? GLP Quiet Nights comes to mind. It has a pinch of Perique, which increases nicotine absorption, and the flake cut would help it to burn slower for you.

    St Bruno

I've only tried the current iteration (2021 tin date), and really enjoyed it. Virginia with some dark-fired for depth, plus a mysterious flavoring, what's not to love? I've got a few more tins in the cellar, the price is the main thing slowing me down from buying a lot more for the future.

EMP much earlier today in my English cob. It was really windy.

How Many Ounces Of Tobacco Fit In An 8oz Mason Jar?

    A pint's a pound, the world around! 😁

    Lightheaded and Not Sure Why

You have to come here for this kind of counsel, because any medical professional would say "well don't smoke, dummy!"

    Lightheaded and Not Sure Why

I remember feeling "off" the next day when I first got into pipes. Since this was in college, I assumed it was because I had also been drinking, and didn't make the connection to nicotine until much later. ;)

    Balkan vs English

As right as you and Greg are on that point, I always feel pedantic calling them “Latakia mixtures” instead. 🤣

How Many Ounces Of Tobacco Fit In An 8oz Mason Jar?

With careful arrangement/cutting, I can get 3.5-4 oz of flake in a regular 8 oz jar without cramming. Plugs make that even easier. For everyday smoking, I like to put up to 1 oz of ribbon or flake into 4 oz jelly jars. The remainder can stay in another jar and doesn't have to be exposed to...

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

OGS in my Savinelli 313. Kind of a weird bowl tonight. I’m getting some of those “fizzy candy” sensations on the tongue which I certainly don’t mind, but the retrohales are often bland yet rough/spicy. It’s hard to describe; I think this is the experience that people who dislike OGS tend to...

    Balkan vs English

That’s a perfect analogy, really. A particular porter was once described as “extra stout” and that label took on a life of its own. Just like a popular English blend with “Balkan” in the brand name. 👍

Is it OK to Never Remove the Stem ?

I’m not sure whose brilliant idea it was to make a shot glass out of acrylic, but this is the sort of thing that happens: I have another acrylic device that I damaged by cleaning with alcohol, but it’s off-topic for this forum. 😉

    Solar Eclipse. Have Fun.

That's a great idea! I ran to find mine, but it's an auto-darkening type, and it must need a lot more light to work.

Is it OK to Never Remove the Stem ?

I had this happen with a Missouri Meerschaum Ozark model. No idea that the stem was so tight until I went to twist it off, and the shank loudly cracked in 3 places! Fortunately, wicking superglue into the cracks and lubing the stem with wax has kept it in service. Lesson learned: hold a pipe...
