    New Neighbours

When I lived in the Peak District, they were rarely docked also. And yes, the WMB has the monopoly on fleeces and set the prices. They also complain like hell if you send in mucky fleeces and that why we always docked ours here in Cornwall. Jay.

    New Neighbours

They are removed soon after birth. Having long tails, they get all clagged up so you have to then get the dagging shears out to tidy them up. I wonder if @Flatfish has got his wellies out yet ;) Jay.

Looking For a New Pepper Grinder.

The 18cm version is actually £39:99 (down from a whopping £44:99) in graphite or £1 less for plain beechwood. Jay.

Looking For a New Pepper Grinder.

That could likely be Cole & Mason as per the two that I have. They worked perfectly for years......then sort of went on strike. Jay.

Looking For a New Pepper Grinder.

They do indeed....but they're damned pricey  Mind you, I should imagine one would see me out so I reckon a Peugeot grinder will be ordered. Thanks for the tips guys 👍 Jay.

Looking For a New Pepper Grinder.

I have heard of this brand but never actually seen one. Would you know if the burrs are stainless or ceramic? Jay.

Looking For a New Pepper Grinder.

For many, many years I've relied upon two grinders, both with Cole & Mason stainless steel burrs for my pepper dispensing. However over the last year or so I've noticed a sharp reduction in the amount of pepper I get per twist so I can only assume they've come to the end of their lives. Can...

What Are You Drinking? December 2023

Last night I sampled for the first time Bushmills Bourbon Finish Irish whiskey. It was nice but to be quite honest I couldn't spot any difference from 'regular' Bushmills. That will teach me not to fall for 'Black Friday' deals on Amazon  Jay.

What are You Watching? [2023] Please Rate 1-5

I watched another docu last night courtesy of PBS America. This time it was about the 'Sea-Bees' which I suppose is the equivalent to our Royal Engineers. The incredible work those guys did on Iwo Jima and nearby islands was more than impressive, especially so as they were often working whilst...

Boston Baked Beans And Brown Bread

It most certainly is. My preference is Heinz only baked beans with a knob of butter added. Poured onto two or three slices of hot buttered toast with a few splashes of Tabasco & much grated mature cheddar cheese to top it off.....heavenly. Jay.

    Favourite Discontinued Candy Bar

    Favourite Discontinued Candy Bar

Curly Wurly should make a comeback. I remember when they were about a foot long.....then kept shrinking until they disappeared altogether  I recall paying all of 3p for a Curly Wurly:oops: I heard last week Caramac has also now disappeared. Jay.

Trick or Treating: How Old Is Too Old?

We never were allowed to do it as kids. Our father said it was akin to begging or demanding money with menaces! Jay.

What Foodstuffs Best Define the Place Where You Live?

Well we do have stargazey pie but I've never tried it.....I don't like the idea of what I'm eating is looking at me whilst I do so. Jay.

What Foodstuffs Best Define the Place Where You Live?

I've never knowingly had it myself but I reckon I would eat it is it had been properly butchered. I hear it's rather tasty. Jay.

What Foodstuffs Best Define the Place Where You Live?

Mother told me during the war she was regularly sent to the butcher's shop for horsemeat.....for the dog! Apparently it was 'dyed' green so as folk wouldn't be tempted but she told me certain folk did actually eat it  Jay.

How Many of you are Divorced?

I've been working on my family tree for nigh on 22 years and have just under 90,000 individuals on my database. One thing that really struck me once I started logging my American relatives was the amount of divorces that they had back in the early 20th century. I'm not talking about one here...

I love me some cauliflower cheese.....a gloriously simple yet tasty dish. Jay.

What are You Watching? [2023] Please Rate 1-5

Last night I watched (for the 2nd time) The Grey with Liam Neeson leading. A very typical Hollywood 'survival' film with all the predictability that that implies, this was not one of Neeson's finest performances in my view. Also those huge fake wolves that growl like lions on the Serengeti...

How Many of you are Divorced?

Well since I never married (almost did twice) I suppose divorce is one of those things I'll never be able to look forward to :( Jay.
