    Is This Peterson Misdrilled?

This is my first Peterson, it's a 999 and I can't pass a pipe cleaner through it. I know some bents cannot, yet this is only very slightly bent. Upon closer inspection the problem seems to be that the draft hole is drilled near the very top of the mortise. When I put a pipe cleaner in, it...

    MM965 Scottish?

I know the notion of a Scottish Blend has been hashed out on multiple occasions on here, so I'm not going down that route necessarily. Regardless, my question is this, tobaccoreviews.com lists MM965 as an English Blend, yet any blend I know of that is specifically attempting to replicate it is...

    Tolkien Pipe I.D.

Is this a Dublin pipe shape in this particular picture? It's a famous picture of him with his pipe, but I know others where it seems more of a billiard shape. This looks to me like a Dublin with that thick rim. Thoughts?

    "Hybrid" Recommendations

Known by various names, Hybrids, cross-overs, sweet Englishes, whatever you call them or know them as - I love them. Don't get me wrong, I love my heavy Englishes/Balkans too (Gaslight, Plum Pudding, Father Dempsey, etc.). But I do have a pretty good sweet tooth and I find these "hybrid"...

    How To Prevent Rim Charring?

I love my pipes and I hate that I char the rims. No matter how careful I am, lighter or matches, the draft, breeze, or wind always seems to push the flame and chars the edge of the rim nearest me. All help, tips, pointers, advice, and commiserations are welcome and appreciated.

    Brass Pipe Nail?

I really love the simplicity and functionality of a basic pipe nail as both tamper and scoop, but I hate the lack of any weight to it. I'd love a nice pipe nail made of solid brass or even copper (which would be nice, but still not a lot of weight). Aluminum are all I see on the web. Any ideas?

    B&M Ripoff?

I'm all about supporting my local brick and mortar pipe and tobacco resource, but I'm feeling like there's a bit of gouging here. "Basket Pipes" (including MM cobs with stickers still on them) are $40. Their bulk blends are exceptionally expensive as well. They're selling HGL that they've...

Stripping a Finish on a Rusticated Author?

I recently purchased the least expensive author I could find just to see if I'd like the shape (I do). It's a Rossi Vittoria and it's a really cool little pipe. The glossy black rustication is a bit much for me be so I rubbed it down with some #0000 steel wool and it worked pretty well...

    Garage Smoking Safe?

As a newbie pipe smoker (newbie smoker) I would like to smoke outside year round but but it gets cold in Michigan so I would like to set up a corner of the garage where I can crack a side door open and have a space heater or two. I have found some old threads about people being "banished" to...

    Are Porto Cervo's Gone?

Sorry for the double post, but I was surprised at the lack of responses in the "pipe talk" forum. The Porto Cervo line is not on the Savinelli website, but there are a few for sale online. Have they been discontinued?

    Porto Cervo (Savinelli)

Have Savinelli dropped/discontinued the Porto Cervo line? I find them for sale online, but I find no mention of them on the Savinelli site itself. https://www.savinelli.it/rw_en/the-savinelli-series?__from_store=rw_en Thanks.

    Identifying Bulk Tobaccos at B&M

Hi, Still a newbie here so if this should be posted in the tobacco discussion I hope the mods will move it. Anyway, I've caught on that the bulk blends at my local B&M are Lane Limited that they've renamed. There are two I identified (because I saw them getting refilled) as LL 1-Q and LL BCA...

    Newbie in Michigan

Greetings, I am a (very) new pipe smoker. I'm eager to learn as much as I can from all the experience collected and gathered here. I have lots of questions but will do my best searching and lurking before I annoy you with things already answered a hundred times over throughout the site. I'm...
