PG has this off taste to me. But it's funny if it's the middle range or low I don't see any difference otherwise then it takes longer to dry the tobacco. If it's Captain Black levels that ruins it for me. My impression of Prince Albert was not really good or bad and not really all that...

thought that was the most likely thing. And while I agree 101% benign if you regularly burn your mouth like that it can lead to bad things after many many years. But more then that it just sucks.

I find for me the best way to smoke them is fold it in half so it breaks up a little bit and just stuff one or two in at a time. I try to leave an air pocket at the bottom of the pipe, but not a big deal if that doesn't happen.

it does and while it's supposedly red wine. To me it has a distinct plum brandy flavor. It more then a hint but it doesn't cover up the tobacco. It is like just enough to call it an aromatic in my opinion. It is constantly there. Hints come and go. I'd say it's a very tobacco forward aromatic...

I think it's both. It shocked me how much better dry tobacco smokes for me. More moist is fine but dry is perfect for me. And also when ever I haven't smoked in a while for what ever reason the first smoke has a insanely high chance of going perfectly great. I don't always smoke on days off so...

I still haven't tried Carter Hall. Well I tried it when I was 16 and hated all of the codger blends then that I tried. I almost liked some of them but they all had a gross quality I couldn't get over. I now know it's PG and that they can get off for me if I don't make sure my technique is great.

it's certainly nice that this forum isn't gunked up with gatekeepers. I ignored pipe forums for so long because I kept running into people who had this real pipe smokers are b.s.. One I joined for a few days got told I wasn't a real pipe smoker for saying that Peterson Sunset breeze mellows out...

never worried about it. The thing is I want to enjoy smoking a pipe. I don't need to have a pure experience every time. Frankly a lot of the rules some people espouse about pipes seem boarderline fetishistic to me more then practical.
