Morta has intrigued me for awhile. I’ve yet to pull the rigger on one to find out the differences, or lack thereof, in smoking. Please let us know what you think! Oh! And, CONGRATS!!

But I must admit, like you, I still can't warm up to the idea of estate pipes.

Nice looking pipe, enjoy! I have 2 mortas in my collection, a Moonshine poker and a Radice straight dublin. Both smoke cool. I know you mentioned liking Dark Bird's Eye in another post but thought that it burned too fast. They do make a vintage cut (ribbon), sold at SP, that might burn a little slower for ya. I like it.
I've got one. Treat it as you would any other pipe in your collection and it'll serve you well.
Typical gin and absinthe aren't strong enough to disinfect.

Congratulations on the new pipe. I’ve been eying Morta pipes for some time. Looking for one that really speaks to me. Interested on your feedback on your pipe.
Just had its inaugarl smoke. I didn't mention it before, but this is an Askwith pipe, my first of his, and I must say it is impressively crafted. I was pleased at how light it is...drilling is great and nice open draw...comfortable stem.
It seemed pretty much the same as an initial smoke in a meer minus the bit of chalk taste...flavors seemed a bit muted which I trust will improve after a few bowls.
