Any thoughts about Savinelli 321? I'm particularly interested if it is as good as the mythical 320. I like its relatively small chamber.

In the last year, the 320 has become one of my favourite shapes; its feel in the hand, volume of chamber, provide me with a more enjoyable smoking experience. I've been eyeballing a 321 recently, but wonder if I'd be disappointed by its smaller size, as I tend to crave larger chambers. I do wonder if a 321 might fit the bill for when I have less time for a smoke.

I just looked up the dimensions of the 320s, most have a chamber around 1.33 inches. I always thought they were larger given the chat about them.

To me, they're a little heavy for the amount of chamber they carry, but many love 'em.

That's very interesting. Maybe it's the angle, but, that doesn't look bulbous enough to be in the 320/321 family—I've also never seen a stem that long on them, or a flat rim. Would you be able to post more pics from different angles? I'm intrigued. I recently bought an Autograph that is sort of like a 320, but, has a flat rim.

I prefer pipes with chamber diameter around 0.8 inch. Otherwise a windcap doesn't fit and I'm using it all the time when a pipe is not lit, in pocket or in the car. A corck plug is not an option and smaller chambers are perfect for shorter smokes or stronger blends. That's why a 321 would be a better choice.
For home defense I'm totally ok with bigger sizes but for carrying maybe something else.
Even 321 is probably a big one for pocket size even if it's a mini version with a short coloured stem.

Dang - you’re of course correct - not a 321 after all

I have a 321 Tre that I really like. For me it’s a nice size when I want a shorter smoke. Not too big not too small.

I went through a small pipe buying phase, I was looking for a shorter smoke, something other than a cob.

I learned I don’t like little pipes, they just don’t satisfy me. The 321 does the trick for me.

The Savinelli 320 has an approximate chamber diameter of 24mm wide x 33.5mm depth while the 321 has a chamber diameter of approximately 20mm x 27mm depth. I had considered the 321 but its not deep enough for me. It seems to me and I may be wrong (again), that they took a bulldog or rhodesian and made it to have the characteristics of a pot - wider and shorter chamber which I understand from this site is best for certain tobaccos. It also seems to me to be the same shape as a rhodesian or bulldog but with very thick walls. Perhaps a mini-tomatoe shape ?? I understand the attraction to the shape as I really enjoy my Peterson Kapmeer 999 which is a 17mm x 35mm chamber and seems perfect for almost every occasion and blend. I would like to have a rhodesian shape in 18-20 x 40 but then again --- wouldn't that be a brandy shape which i already have ??? Oh, the choices ! :ROFLMAO:
Bottom line - can't got to wrong with a Savinelli.
