Cleaning Jars

In the past I have washed in jars straight from the factory before using. But I read somewhere that as is the factory jars were 10% cleaner than the washed jars.

Do you know anything about this? Or perhaps if you don't know, any repercussions using the jars as is?

If it’s new from the packaging, I just fill them up as Is. if they previously held tobacco, I’ll run them through the dishwasher.

I can’t imagine a scenario where a jar manufacture facility is dirtier than a tobacco blending table/machine.

Never wash mine from new, never had any problems. Not once. They are sterile from the factory.

I just hand wash em.

I never wash mine. New or Old.


When I empty one that had tobacco in it I wipe it out with a paper towel, put a new lid on it and tighten the ring.

I’ve never washed a new jar. Tobacco goes straight in, nary a mold issue. If I’m reusing a jar I wipe it out with denatured alcohol, more to make sure I don’t get any taste carryover from whatever blend was previously in there, but I figure it doesn’t hurt in terms of keeping contamination to a minimum as well.

I have never washed a new jar. The tobacco going into the jar isn't sterile. If mold is present it probably came from something besides the jar.
