Goes without saying that it would be strange today for a doctor - the leading throat specialist of the time - to have his name associated with pipes and smoking especially when he was writing articles at the time like this one:-

Just finished smoking a first bowl of a cursed Hal O' the Wynd sample provided to me by @musicman.

"Cursed" because the sample just cost me $60 in Rattray's purchases just a few minutes ago.

Can my mailman end up suffering from second hand smoke from all of the tobacco purchases that he keeps having to deliver?
