    Black Frigate Horn (Pic Heavy)

I have drilled mine myself, on the lathe. I see people use drill presses. It was the easiest part of the job, really, if you have tools. Oh, and I just made myself a bowl drill from 20mm flat wood drill, 5min on bench grinder.

    Black Frigate Horn (Pic Heavy)

I just made my first pipe from scratch and was amazed by the result! Not expected that fine pipe! Though, woodworking experience and some tools helped a lot:)

    Hi from Ukraine

Oh, cool!:) I live now in the woods (near North Cemetery, 30km from Kyiv) but was commuting a lot through Nivki for quite a few years:-) Nice to see fellow pipe smoker from my home city:)

    Just a Couple Beginner Questions...

Thanks for that info and a link! I thought it was only a matter of technique, now I'll look into less alkaline blends as well.

    Buying My First Pipe

As Ukraine is pretty close to Romania (hello, neighbor!) I'd suggest looking at Трубочный Магазин У Георга - https://trubki.net/ - an old small Ukrainian shop that ships worldwide (but check your customs rules on tobacco first). Highly recommended shop. Ukrainian pipes are also pretty cheap, and...

Tin Popping - Three Day Rule

Hey, thanks for that post, never heard of that. Tried Amphora Original from a friend, it was bone dry, and I liked it. My friend suggested rehumidifying it, but I packed as is. So I bought a pack yesterday, opened it - and I see it definitely needs open time. Especially when I packed small...

    Balkan Supreme

That's good to know, ordered PS Balkan Supreme locally (waiting for a mail now) and wondered is it the same as recommended in other thread Arango. Good to know I can buy some nice bulk tobaccos here too - the only big importer of tobaccos in Ukraine focuses on really cheap aromatics or rather...

    Anyone Play Video Games?

I have never been a gaming guy. I always thought of time wasted on games so I stopped playing them. But there were few games that spoke to my heart so I finished them. First was Duke Nukem that came with my first PC back in '98:) Then Dune and UFO. Oh, and few advantures of Leisure Suit Larry...

Care and Breaking In for Morta Pipe?

It's making a bit harder to ask questions, but I do get it. Let's try this way... I cut off just a piece off picture, so it's definitely not a show off:) Pipe, buffed with carnauba and then steel wool to remove shine This is part of tamper, treated with a coat of oil. Tamper made from cut-off...

Care and Breaking In for Morta Pipe?

I have no access to fancy chemistry here. I do have some pure carnauba and microcrystalline blend wax, but no fancy shmancy hallucion:) As for walnut oil it's called "curing" in woodworkers world, I believe:) And it's one of the best food safe oil finishes, it protects wood without forming ugly...
