Do the terms Rondell and Roulette have any roll here? I was thinking one was the embedded emblem and the other a fancy name for the band but which would be which?- uneek

What do you call the decorative metal on the stem and shank?
I know there are proper names for each part of a pipe. I wanted to know what to call the embedded emblems, like on the stem of a GBD. Also, what do you call the silver or brass ring that goes around the shank at the mortise hole. I've read different things and wanted to get the scoop from you...- uneek

Ahhhh Insomnia and a Pipe!
You can count me in that club. I work odd hours which keeps me up even when not working. Nothing beats a purposefully chosen pipe full of your favorite tobacco while the world sleeps. It's peaceful, the pipe makes it even moreso, and I appreciate thee quiet times like that.- uneek

How to Remove Charing? Pics
I have reached a point of satisfaction. The wood looks beautiful polished and waxed. Once this coat sets, I will layer on additional coats for an even deeper sheen. I sanded and polished the stem before applying obsidian oil to top it off. It turned out better than I expected. Here is a close...- uneek

The more I stare at it while waiting for the micro-mesh to arrive (today) the more I am appreciating its natural beauty. I just got some pure carnabuba wax that I'll use after I polish it with the mesh. I can always come back and stain it later if I feel like a change. Thanks for all the kind words.- uneek
