It has been windy in New England. Good thing I have my trusty Zippo.

    Cringle Flake

It smelled pretty nasty. white stuff all over it. Maybe the smell was Katerini, not mold, but either way I did the right thing.

    Cringle Flake

Bought '23 Cringle Flake at a B & M (Not local to Massachusetts). Serious mold, I had to bin it. Anybody else have this problem? Not complaining, only the second problem in 50 years. I don't want to get any more though if there is a problem.

    Simply Orange

Watch City announced today they are releasing "Simply Orange" next Thursday July 6th. This was available previously as a limited blend, but will be offered as a "full time blend" according to the e-mail. I mention this because I thought the prior iteration was terrific. Does my Briar Pipe really Need Resting ?

Many different opinions, but I always rest my pipes to let them dry. I run a pipe cleaner through first, but I think it helps moisture left in the mortise.

    Local Tobacco Shop

I am very fortunate that I live near Watch City. That is my "go to". Ernie is very knowledgeable, and the store is well stocked...and he's bringing back Simply Orange! I also am about 40 minutes from Peretti's in Boston. I travel a fair bit for business in the Northeast. I make it a point to...

    Favorite Virginia Tobaccos?

My top VA is SG Full VA Flake. Number 2 is GL Pease Union Square, followed by C & D Opening Night. I also like all of the Red Carolina Flake Red VAs, and have recently found Simply Orange by Watch City. It was limited, but Ernie says it will be added to his regular menu soon, which is great news.

    Restore estate pipes

If soak the stems in Oxyclean (roughly one small scoop with a mason jar full of warm (not hot) water for at least 2 hours. Do not seal the jar. Remove, and run a pipe cleaner with alcohol (Everclear) to dry. This will also sterilize the stems, I believe. I use Mister Clean sheets to take off the...

    Dedicating A Pipe

I had a Vesz pipe I dedicated to a specific blend: Park Lane Connoisseur Flake. I eventually got tired of the blend and realized I was underutilizing a great pipe. I dedicate pipes to genres now on all of my pipes.

    Rotation of Pipes

Whatever works, for sure. However, I find that if you take the pipe apart each time {when cool, of course} to clean the mortice you run the risk of loosening the mortice/stem connection. This will leave some moisture, which can lead to a sour pipe. Also, I am not sure how moisture resistant...
