    My pipes

Thanks everybody! I'm definitely working towards filling up that first rack, lol. Mick, the H.I.S smokes great. Before I bought that one the only briar pipe I had was my first one. It's a great pipe but has a cheap stem and has given me some troubles. When I got the H.I.S I was SO happy. It's...

    My pipes

Figured I'd take a few pics and share what my collection is looking like. It's a humble set of 4 but I love em all. The meerschaum is a Paykoc my wife got me for Christmas. Next to that is an H.I.S. Briar pipe from a local shop. Next is a no-name briar from the same shop(my first pipe). And...

    Stem problem/question

Yeah, the only reason I was alright with using nail polish and super glue is because of where the holes are, since they aren't actually being inhaled. It's still holding and smokes great again^^.

    Stem problem/question

The nail polish worked when I checked the stem for any seeping air, but when I connected it to the bowl it just chipped and broke free. My wife said the nail polish was cheap, BUT that we had some super glue in the kitchen. So far the super glue is holding up strong! I let it air out overnight...

    Stem problem/question

Awesome idea. I didn't even think of clear nail polish. It's drying now, hopefully it'll hold. Thanks!

    Stem problem/question

My first pipe was a no-namer from the local tobacco shop. It's a great pipe though. After maybe 8-9 smokes I noticed air was escaping from the stem. I thought the stem was loose, but it turns out that the stem has holes/cracks in it. I'm posting some pics so you can see where they are. I'm kind...

    Cherrywood stain question

Awesome! Thanks for all the replies and good info! I think I'm going to go ahead and stay away from the minwax stain. I think I'll let the pipe sit out in the sun and darken up a bit and then wax it the way it is. Again, thanks a lot!

    Cherrywood stain question

I just moved into a new house a few months ago that has several cherry trees out back. I decided I would try to make my own pipe, which I have done! My only question now is what to do about staining. I have some minwax with polyurethane but have been hearing about how oil-based stains aren't...

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

Hey everybody! I just got into pipe smoking about a week or so ago. I live in the Portland, Or area and found a local tobacconist and bought a briar no-name pipe and some pipe tobacco. Only successfully smoked a few times, but I love it! Glad to have a forum where I can actually find some good...
