    Left behind pipes

I have, unfortunately, due to carelessness or forgetfulness, left behind a number of pipes in assorted places or vehicles during my many travels. Each time I felt like such ........... (you fill in the word). I hope they all found good homes, but I doubt it. Our great pipes are looked on by too...

    Baki Meerschaum

I had a meerschaum I got in Turkey in 1962. Tried to use it on and off for years, and finally gave it away. I could not stand the hardness of the bit. Too hard.

The old ways still work. I use a 40 year old 7 ounce Prince Albert tin to hold the bulk tobacco that I smoke at my desk. A couple of weeks ago I decided that the tobacco from the tin was too dry and burning too hot, so I got a small apple, cut it in quarters, and put the apple quarters into the...

    Getting Rid of Pipe Breath

Suggestion: Two birds with one stone. Fill pipe with tobacco. Tamp down well. Sprinkle a bit of baking soda onto tobacco. Light up and enjoy a great smoke and wonderful breath!

    Seeing the smoke

I tried this years ago and was amazed. Sit in a room that is totally dark except for one light by your chair. Take a few puffs from your well lit pipe, then turn off the light next to you. Attempt to smoke your pipe, and note the changes (if any) with taste and general satisfaction for at least...

Why did you first pick up a pipe?

A fellow soldier at a base in Turkey where we were stationed gave me my first pipe. I, just like Clunk, quickly found out that I should stick with the tobacco offered at the PX. Lighting up local Turkish tobacco got me run out of the barracks.
