Pipe tobacco taste changed
I used to smoke mainly English and Balkan blends - the more Latakia, the better. Then years ago I came down with a bad case of pneumonia. "Cardboard" Tins: How Long Will They Cellar?
I've never had a problem with any cardboard tins. Some going back to the mid 90's. I don't open them until I'm ready to smoke them - never a problem. And unlike the metal tins, they don't rust. I recently opened an 8 oz of Anni Cake from 2006 and it was ridiculously moist and fresh and delicious.- smoketime

I, too, am a hopeless Va/Per-phile and Escudo, Dunhill Deluxe Navy Rolls, and Fillmore are some of my faves.
