    Baki Questions

Went ahead and bought a Baki. :D

    Baki Questions

I did, Eastern Traveler, and they're really tempting me, but I just cannot deal with the tenons he uses. I already own a pipe with one and never smoke it because of that.

    Baki Questions

I'm set on Baki. Deniz emailed me back today, very kind and professional person. Maybe one day when I can afford the money and patience, getting the tenon replaced, I will order a Yanik. His carvings are impeccable works of art, but I need a good smoker. Thanks, everyone. You've all been very...

    Baki Questions

Thanks, Raven/Wolf. I was also thinking about Yanik, but I hear he uses those darn screw-in tenons. Is this true? I have a meer with a screw-in push pull tenon that I never smoke anymore because of that. I can really appreciate Yanik's carvings, but I don't want to wait a month to for it to...

    Baki Questions

Hey, just ran into some money, and I thinking about a Baki. Definitely set on getting another meerschaum. I've heard good things about Baki, but I'd like to know a little more about them from people who own them... Do they really use a 4mm tenons, like they say? Do they smoke well? Do they color...

Do you think the color on this pipe is the result of fading oxblood?

Also, do you guys know where I could get a quality meerschaum, with a fairly loose draft hole for about $170? I had a great experience with IMP, but the prices went back up. I was thinking about this pipe, but I was hoping for a smooth bowl if it's a claw. A fancy figural would be nice. I was...

Do you think the color on this pipe is the result of fading oxblood?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-ANTIQUE-CARVED-MEERSCHAUM-EAGLES-TALON-FITTED-CASE-/221864987253 Thinking about making an offer. It's beat up, but I'm thinking a dip in beeswax will restore its beauty. But I don't know if that color is from fading oxblood or just natural patina. Your thoughts?

Let's see your S Yanik pipe

I'd like to see some that's been smoked heavily for a good period of time. How well do they color? Also, is this pre-colored or just the wax he uses? It looks darker than the traditional wax he uses for most of his pipes...

    Remove oxidation from vulcanite stem

Thanks, Wilson. I ended up smoking two consecutive bowls. Coolest and driest smoke I ever had... incredible. Only problem I had was when I got near to the end of the bowl, I started sucking in ash. Any fix for this? I was thinking about putting a silver coin in the meerschaum insert, since I...

    Remove oxidation from vulcanite stem

I think a pad would work. Add some toothpaste to it though. I just finished restoring the pipe. It was already fairly clean, so it didn't need a lot of cleaning. The only stem was the only thing that took awhile to clean. I used 2 Magic Eraser sponges with toothpaste, and it got rid of almost...

    Remove oxidation from vulcanite stem

Just received it today and will start cleaning soon. It's so beautiful in person!

    Remove oxidation from vulcanite stem

I'm confused what "OxYclean" is though? Is it the liquid OxIclean stain remover for laundry or something else? I have liquid Oxiclean. It's really difficult finding a calabash with a lucite stem.

    Remove oxidation from vulcanite stem

I don't think it's that deep. I may be a rotting corpse, but I don't like putting something in my mouth if I know it's been put in other persons' mouths unless it's been well sanitized. If it's too much of a pain, I'll sacrifice one of my briar's lucite stems and shave them down to fit...
