Microwaving Tobacco
I've always found that I have a little more control over the process if I put the tobacco over a table lamp or something of that sort. Dries the tobacco relatively quick and it's a little slower than the microwave so I find I have more control.- pipenscotch

Accidentally Inhaled Erinmore Flake...
On the true light, and and felt good for about 3 seconds, and then boy, was I dizzy. As a former cigarette smoker I thought my nicotine tolerance was relatively high, but pipe tobacco is it's own beast. Inhale this baccy at your own risk :oops:- pipenscotch

Cleaning a Meerschaum

I think individuals have always cellared tobacco to some degree, although I do agree it is now my prevalent than ever before. A Cob Pipe... Really?
+1 phred! Cobs also have the added bonus of being so inexpensive, they make amazing pipes to smoke while doing any kind of work, because they can take so much abuse. If you were to drop and break it, no problem, just buy another one. IMHO though cobs have tendencies to survive the harshest...- pipenscotch

Can you abuse a cob?
Honestly, cobs are so inexpensive that that should be your last worry with them. Smoke the hell out of it. At work, I've literally thrown my cob across the room, picked it up, and continued to smoke it. If I could I'd have a cob going all day everyday at work, with no concern over abusing it. To answer your question thesmokingtexan, from personal experience I find that the moister the tobacco, the more steam is produced while I'm smoking, which will lead to a wetter, hotter, and less flavorful smoke. First Bowl Of Crown Achievement.
