    I love bacon and eggs! The breakfast for champions. To make this board relevant, if you like bacon and eggs, I really recommend trying Vermont Meat Candy from Hearth and Home. It is delicious and tastes like maple covered bacon.

    So I have two tins with me that are unopened: Dunhill's Nightcap and H&H Black House. My dilemma is that I only have one mason jar left to house one of these two in. Which should I open and smoke tonight? Also, any preferred drying times for either of the two blends? Cheers :puffy:

    Just as an update, I started to wipe out the ash the next day after shaking it up in the bowl to help with cake building. I was finding that it was leading to an "ash" taste while smoking the next turn. After gently wiping out the ash I noticed my bowl smelled sweet and still had cake forming...

    Thanks Roth for the clarification on this technique :) I have been doing exactly that, cleaning the stem/shank and removing excess ash/dottle. I just wasn't sure if I was supposed to keep the powdery ash along the walls too permanently or wipe them out after x amount of time.

    Hans, then my question is, what is the point of shaking up the ashes if you're just going to wipe them out? I do clean out my stem frequently. I'm just wondering about this breaking in/cake building technique :)
