Has anyone ordered a pipe from S. Yanik's website?

A few months ago I had an email exchange with Sadik Yanik via his website email link. I had been interested in two of the high end pipes he has there, and asked about them. He said he would only accept western union as payment. He also said a few other things that were a bit confusing. I will...

    Mysteriously Cracking Meerschaums

I remember a few years ago seeing a message by Yanik saying that the stones have to be chosen very carefully, and have a very high chance of cracking if the raw meer blocks were not good enough quality.

    Friday Night Rant

OK, I never knew smoking restrictions applied to you in your car... and the bit about taking kids from smoking parents, that's news to me.

Opinions Please: Meer or White Briar?

Kaywoodie used to make a line of pipes called white briar, which was just painted briar. I'm 99% sure this pipe is like that. Also, I would be amazed if that stem was amber, its way to transparent, looks more like plastic to me. I'm not putting it down at all, its a fine looking pipe.

    Why the pipe?

Well, my story is a little different than most, but its the truth. Up until 2011, I was an avid anti-smoker, having grown up around friends that were all cigarette addicts. My parents didn't smoke, but both my sisters did heavily. I had a pretty bad idea of smoking, hated it. I didn't really...

What Are You Smoking - September 2012

The last week I have been enjoying DaVinci by Dan Tobacco in my 1936 Kaywoodie meerschaum Oom-Paul. Its a very fruity/red wine aromatic with no bite at all, I'm rather enjoying it. :)

    Did I salvage it? Opinions...

Accidents happen. I think your salvage effort came out great so far, at least you didn't give up! Think of it as an artistic challenge, to make something really sweet out of whats left when you remove the damage. Looking forward to see the completed pipe, hope you show it off here.

    Smoking A Meer?

Good advice here. Also remember that meerschaums are coated with wax to protect them, so while the pipe is warm/hot, that wax is softer, and can also absorb any oils or bits of dirt from your hands. While the pipe is hot be gentle if your handling the meerschaum part, don't squeeze hard, make...

    How to ...meer...

I agree with the other pipers here when it comes to meerschaums. I have 6 of them, and after every smoke, I let them sit on a soft towel to cool down. Don't put them on hard surfaces, the beeswax coating when warm can develop small marks or smudges. I always wash my hands before enjoying a smoke...

A pipe I am interested in - need educated opinions pronto!

Although I think the seller was a bit dirty to hide the burn mark, I think you just need to decide if the mark is enough to make you not want the pipe. If its a rare pipe, or exactly what you were looking for in every way except that blemish, might be still worth keeping. I would however, not...

How do you smoke so much?

OMG, 5 packs a day? I never heard of anybody smoking that heavily. I agree with cigrmaster, your lucky to have working lungs after that torture.

Tried a cigar out of curiosity

I have been enjoying my pipes for a while, and really like them, but wanted to be able to say I tried a cigar. So, on a whim, I went to my local tobacconist and picked up a Cohiba. Was 16 dollars, seems like a lot for one smoke... Now, I never tried one, and am a total noob at cigars. The sales...
