Pen Part Repurposed As My First Tamper Ever

This one was something I made from a wooden spoon handle. I used it as a bone folder for some time (If you don't know what a bone folder is, just Google it. It's the tamper of the paper crafter.). I like to play with it. I put a thumb tack below it and turned it into a tamper now. I wouldn't use...

Shank Tightened, How Is That Even Possible?

Ah, okay fluffie. I'll try THAT first.

Shank Tightened, How Is That Even Possible?

The air where I live is kinda dry, but I wouldn't call it arid. It's not humid, but not too dry either. It must be the moisture from the tobacco. I clean the pipe after every smoke, but it doesn't mean I can clean all the moisture. And I have two other pear wood pipes, a corn cob and a briar...

Shank Tightened, How Is That Even Possible?

And by the way, the pipe has a metal band around the shank. Could it be the culprit? I don't think so, but you people know more than me.

Shank Tightened, How Is That Even Possible?

Thanks everyone. I put it in the freezer for five minutes, and it didn't work. Edit: Should it be longer than five minutes? I didn't want to harm the pipe. I'll try putting it in the sunlight for a few hours in the afternoon here. We'll see how it goes.

Okay, I admit, it's addictive. I might continue to make them, just for the sake of it.

Shank Tightened, How Is That Even Possible?

So, I'm not alone. It must be humidity, as most of you said.

Pen Part Repurposed As My First Tamper Ever

:D You may be right. But I stopped to make them, because I think I've found my ideal ones for some time. Edit: But it'd be cool if people made some friendship tampers.

Shank Tightened, How Is That Even Possible?

I have a pearwood pipe, and it's a fine smoker. I could remove the stem just fine, and it wasn't loose or tight. Suddenly, it became very hard to remove or put back in the stem. Is it even possible that shank was tightened? I cleaned the shank and the stem thoroughly, but the problem remains...

Pen Part Repurposed As My First Tamper Ever

For outdoors I decided to use the pen above. But indoors, my go-to tamper is the first one I made. It looks fairly simple, and I like it the most. Now I'll show you some ideas I had. Most of the time I like the tamper as it is. But sometimes I want a larger tamping surface, and then I use a...

Pen Part Repurposed As My First Tamper Ever

This whole pen is actually a great tamper. It's about 5½in long. I'm usually a fountain pen user, but I might start to carry this ballpoint pen with me outside, because it doubles as a perfect tamper. And it looks great too. It was a gift from my sister, so she will be happy to see I'm using it...

Pen Part Repurposed As My First Tamper Ever

You're right. Although it doesn't melt or anything, it might still be dangerous. The one with the clip has plastic in it, but it doesn't touch the fire. But I don't use it much already. The compass, well it was just an idea. A metal compass would be much better.
