Home Bending Cigar Leaf--Use Wrapper or Filler?

The common lore among cigar smokers is that most of the cigar flavor comes from the wrapper. I would blend some wrapper in one batch and filler in another. We would be interested in hearing about the results. Pax

New to the Hobby, Replacement Stems

I just posted on another thread that I'm still learning after 47 years of pipe smoking. The thread confirms my observation. Pax

Totally New. Information Overload. What to Do?

Good advice. I would also add that if you enjoy the pipe after trying a few cobs, get a Savinelli or Stanwell pipe or two. These factory pipes look and smoke great and are affordable. Enjoy the journey. I've smoked a pipe on and off for 47 years and am still learning. But you can master the...

    Old Time Pipe Tobacco Commercials

I assume most of these are European ads. I don't recall seeing them on the tube as a youngster. Pax

How Many Blends Have You Sampled?

I really can't count them as I don't keep a diary. I have close to a hundred in the cellar. My sample rate is slowing down. I've made a conscious decision to limit my rotation to one blend of any variety. For example, I have open an English, a burley, an Boswell aromatic, a VaPer, a deer tongue...

    GLP Haddo's Delight

I age everything in the original tin, can or foil bag. I've opened a couple after ten years and the moisture content was still excellent. Puffing on Old Joe Krantz right now that came out of a can after aging ten years. Pax

Growing up in the 1970s & How We Should All Be Dead!

Most common last words from rednecks: Growing up in the country, we didn't have zip guns. But most kids got their own 4-10 gauge shotgun when they were ten years old and up. At 12 and 13 years, most of us hunted unsupervised.

    Yet Another Crazy Tobacco Review.

It is an editorial written for MAD magazine. He does make some points. If it were a review of Stonehaven, I would understand it better. Pax

    Freehands Are Passe?

What an education! I just bought and read two books on pipes and tobaccos. I learned more in this thread than from the text of both books combined. Pax

    Stonehaven vs University Flake

Sablebrush, RDF is indeed a good alternative. Do you know of a shop in the UK that will ship here? Thanks Pax

    Can I Borrow Your Tamper?

I enjoy using twigs when smoking outdoors. Indoors there never seems to be a tamper around when I need it - unless I'm smoking in the lounge seat. Bottom of a Bic pen or more often than not, my index finger are my stand byes. Nice collection, Banjo.
