    My Final Dunhill Order

For me Dunhill has been a nostalgia brand. In my early days of pipe smoking I found myself in London and paid their store a visit. The guy behind the counter showed me their “my mixture” blend ledgers with literally thousands of custom blends including blends for people like Charlie Chaplin and...

    My Final Dunhill Order

I expect the new deeming rules from the FDA will make short work of any matching blends in North America. Our European friends will get to enjoy those.

    My Final Dunhill Order

I placed what will likely be my final order for a Dunhill tobacco. 4 tins of EMP. At least this time I was prepared and have a decent supply.

Help Me Identify My Stanwell Pipe

    1. Yes it is briar 2. Yes it is a Stanwell. The logo is not in script so that dates the pipe to after the 1950’s 3. The second line under the Stanwell name is the registration mark (Regd No 969-48). That means the pipe is pre 1970’s or early 1970’s at the latest 4. The logo on the stem has a...

Give me a good strong English like Westminster, Quiet nights or Nightcap or a nice pure Virgina like... well I was going to say Dark star, but we will leave it there. Here is the thing, I recently played a bit with cross-over blends like Haddo’s and liked it, to my...

    How Are Stanwell Pipes?

Stanwells are great! I have three. They smoke fantastic, plus you get to buy into a brand with a history and a deep connection with the Scandinavian artisan pipe tradition. That particular Stanwell that you are looking at was designed by Nana Ivarsson which is Sixten’s grand daughter, the third...

    Dating Stanwell Logos

Yeah, I checked both of those already. They give the sequence of changes to the logos but no date ranges The straight grain is only mentioned in relation to the 1950’s but the brass logo must be later than that. Btw: I also found out that shape 19 was a Sixten Ivarsson design, which is pretty cool!

    Dating Stanwell Logos

Does anyone have any information on dates when the various interations of Stanwell logos was used? I have a Stanwell estate with a brass inset logo and I am trying to pin down a rough age. Other info on the pipe is: Stanwell logo with the beginning and end of the name larger than the center...

Easy to say that when you have no skin in their game. Try to walk a mile in their shoes first.

You Can Lead a Horse to Water .... Sellers of Pipes Who Have Absolutely No Idea

What I like even more is that you can go and buy a brand new one for about half the money. Lesson in eBay buying, always cross check the pricing, always study those photos carefully.
