I drive a lot for work. My rotating selections of pipes and tobaccos I put in a large Tabak cigar box in the truck.

Earlier this week drove down to Charleston and back for work (7+ hr drive). It was pouring rain for the drive down. Had some bulk Sweet Velvet in the baggie it came in. (I've been smoking out of that bag for a couple weeks with no issues). Just from the drive down, I guess it had gotten wet enough that I wrestled with it in two different pipes 'fore I gave up.

I switched to SWRA in a pouch and it was just fine.

What are y'all's methods? Boveda in the box with my tobacco? Different containers for the individual tobaccos?

Thanks in advance.

They had these cool hard storage units at the Muletown show. For the life of me I can't remember what they are called. @Oddball was there, maybe he remembers?

Here it is with a jam jar for scale. It would be much cheaper to use jam jars and get a camera lens case to hold them in.

Dunno, that just sounds fun. I got a couple of large camera suitcases and use them to haul pipes/tobacco places.

Country squire and nova pipes has them for sell. They come in 2 different size jars.
(I’m sure many more companies have their logo put on them as well)

Smoking pipes calls them pocket jars; I've been using them for a couple of years they're great. Amazons' version is buddy jars same thing at half the price.

That's what is was in. Of course it was about 108% humidity and I had the windows cracked open - still, surprised it would have so much effect.
I would be surprised if this were to happen with 7 mil mylar bags that have the zip lock. If the integrity of the seal on the standard zip lock bag wasn't compromised, I'd be surprised if it happened with one of them.

Just a standard ziplock. But it was sealed.

I believe you, I'm just surprised. I have used well over 200 7 mil mylar zip locks for long term storage that have worked perfectly to date. To be fair, these have also been heat sealed. But after cutting off the heat sealed portion, the zip lock has kept the tobacco perfectly fresh for months following.

That’s been my experience as well. And I save the Mylar bags that have been used in order to throw a handful of tobacco in (well bags that I’ve previously had non aros in) if I’m going somewhere for a few days.

That’s odd, I’ve always had good experiences with ziplocks, maybe there’s a hole.

Before I put them away I’ll zip it with a little air in there and squeeze to see if it’s leak proof, then I open the ziplock in one corner and squeeze as much air out as I can and zip it up.

Works great, just don’t get tobacco in the zipper.

I do like the idea of the pocket jars.

Me too. Mystery. Hell, maybe it was me with those two bowls - I am a relative newb.
