I read the Pipedia page of The Bard of Barling's that's packed with information, one of the things was that for a time Erik Nording was making pipes for Barling. I've just recently gotten into Barling's and of the 5 I have they are all great smokers. I have always been fond of Nording's pipes.
I just found a Barling international made in Denmark that is on its way, was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Denmark Barling's and how they smoke,
do they favor Nording's, or do they favor Barling's? Probably should have asked before spending 90 bucks but didn't want it to get away.

My best guess is it's Barling in name only, but I like Nording's too.

That's correct. Imperial Tobacco outsourced the manufacturing of Barlings to Nording in the late 70's. The factories had been closed since 1970 and initial outsourcing was to Oppenheimer and to Charatan.

But you know what? Nording makes excellent pipes, so these are just as good as the other Barling product at this time. I've never had a bad Nording made pipe.

It has arrived and looks great. After a quick moonshine cleansing, I'm ready to have our 1st bowl together an old standby D&R Windsail.

Enjoyed the 1st bowl in the Bar Nord, so much I had to have a bowl of Sansepolcro.

My first non Kaywoodie pipe was a 1967 Nording Freehand Dublin, I recently started venturing into Barling's which I've come to love as much as my Kaywoodie's (blasphemy I know but I like Kaywoodie's). Out of the 4 Nording's I own I do not have a bad pipe in any of them. But this what I'm calling Hybrid pipe is the best. Not better than my 192? KB&B Chesterfield or my 1st 196? Barling but it ranks right up there.
