Admin— since I am not affiliated with McCranie’s and did not post a link, I assume this thread is OK. If not, let me know and I will delete it. Thanks.

I have family in Charlotte and have visited the Queen City many times. Over the past few years I’ve always stopped at the Tinder Box in the South Park Mall. It has a great cigar and pipe lounge and last visit I bought a Savinelli Miele and a Nording churchwarden pipe.

While watching Get Piped on YouTube today he mentioned a pipe and tobacco shop called McCranie’s with 3 locations in Charlotte. I found its incredible website and could not believe the pipe selection. I ended up purchasing a Ser Jacopo Major S1A and two Mastro Geppetto pipes on line. I can’t wait to get them in the maiI. I don’t know how I missed it all these years.

Has anyone from North Carolina visited its brick and mortar stores? How is its smoking lounge?

McCranie's is listed in the forum's directory. I'm pretty sure it is ok to post a link.

I've not been, but I have mail ordered a lot of tobacco when they used to carry the McClelland made shop blends.

Ive been to the B&M in Charlotte and loved the shop. The guy behind the counter was knowledgeable and helpful. For a relatively small shop they had a great selection of tins and bulk/house blends. The shop also had a wide variety of pipes from basket pipes up to Ser Jacopo and several other reputable brands/makers. If you in the area, McCranie's is worth a visit.

The last time I was at McCrannie's main store in Charlotte they had 20 or so tins of McCrannie's Red Ribbon 2008 produced by McClelland for $45 a pop, sadly a customer who frequented the shop had passed and his wife brought back all the Red Ribbon he had purchased there. A huge selection of top-shelf Pipes and Tobacco.

I worked a job near Asheville and there is a place called B&B Tobacconist well worth checking out too. As their main distributor is Laudisi you will find lots of Savinelli, Peterson, C&D, SG, GH Co.

I realize this post should probably be on the brick and mortar thread, but this is an old thread already started,

My son lives in Charlotte and visited McCranie’s this weekend. I got a little surprise package in the mail, post Christmas. I can’t wait to try Payload and Wild. The Kitty Hawk house blend is already an old favorite.

Yes Mike N, the McCranie’s store in the Park Road Shopping Center, Charlotte, is tops. A pipe counter with stools. Several rocking chairs. A coffee maker. Tom or one of the other fellows with buff your stems while you shop or sit and smoke. Friendly customers to smoke with, shoot the breeze. I miss it.

I live about 10 minutes away from the Charlotte shop in Park Road Shopping center. It's its own building in the middle of the strip center parking lot. I've been going there since I moved to Charlotte in 1979. I still have a few unopened cans of their Red Ribbon. One dates back to the 1983 I think. I have a few of the 2008 cans also.

The place is much better since they remodeled it a few years ago. Very knowledgeable, helpful and have a decent inventory of pipes and a pretty fair cigar room too.

I used to visit the stand alone store (Park Road Mall, maybe?) way back in the '70s when on trips to Florida. Great place. It was pretty much all pipes and pipe stuff back then, as I remember. Glad to hear it's still around. One of their blends that knocked my socks off had, I believe, cloves in it. It was a powerful ghoster, but it was good!
