YouTubers “Idiots With Class” (formerly Idiots With Pipes) uploaded an excellent this evening about their visit to The Briary. A beautiful shop and great cinematography. The owner Skip indicated he purchased a bunch of Virginias from Sutliff just before it closed and will be adding a third house blend soon, a VaPer based upon Emphemeris. It’s a great video.

I’ve asked about Ephemeris literally every time The Briary is mentioned, and have yet to hear anything detailed about it. I’d love a review, notes, whether or not it’s worth a (rather spendy) phone order. How about this time?

I guess I should be more specific: I’d love to hear notes and recommendations from folks who aren’t selling the product?

I really enjoyed it. I'm not a great note describer or vet pipe smoker, but it's a wonderful high quality VA blend. Plus the shop is such an awesome place. If we're going to support anything in this hobby, it should be shops and people like that. I'm happy with my purchase and will buy more. It comes in a good jar too, which is nice.

The Briary is about a five hour drive from me but I've been there five or six times when traveling through Birmingham. I've always been impressed with the variety of pipe tobacco Skip has available - both tinned and bulk. I haven't tried the Ephemeris though.

I'm thinking about making a weekend trip to that part of Alabama later this year when it is cooler temperatures. I would like to sit on the porch and have a pipe or two.

I just passed through yesterday. The pipe tobacco selection has gotten even bigger, they had a new house blend in addition to Ephemeris which smelled great. It was a light VA called Dandy lion, but I didn't try it. Their staff is so awesome too, one of them was kind enough to even let me sample his McClelland Anniversary, which is a treat I've never, nor probably ever will get again. Great folks down there.
