Jim,
Can you help explain the purpose and benefit of the shape of that tip???
thanks,
It was designed in the early 1990s as a way to distribute more more around the inside of the mouth. A few years ago, Mark Irwin tried to convince Peterson to bring that kind of bit back, but it didn't happen. There were, I believe, seventeen of us who were part of the focus group to try it out.

Hope Y'all had a great Independence Day. Busy weekend here. Wife surprised me inviting 2 decades of old players and parents to a 4th party. I got to see many of my old parents and their sons and daughters/former players of mine. Many are in college or graduated and starting families others (like my youngest) are just getting ready to head off to college. Some are playing at the next level and some have hung up their gloves. All things change but after coaching for 25 years I am a little taken back by how fast the time has gone by. Contemplating life and smoking a bowl of Plumb Pudding in a Brebbia with the DeWalt fan. It's hot in GA.

The very last of my straight blending Smyrna, in the Country Gentleman. Man, I love this stuff -- it's called "blending Smyrna" from P&C. Drink is iced black tea, cream no sugar. 🍵 🧊

Hey, can anyone recommend something Smyrna-forward for me to try? I'm open to any type, but looking for a strong Smyrna component. I read about "John Cotton's Smyrna," but it seems to be no longer in production. Is there any "replacement?" Thanks! 🙏

Not far from finishing this bowl of year 2018 Sutliff Dunhill Elizabethan Match in my trusty 1970s smooth three quarter bend Peterson System Standard 305 dublin with a black vulcanite p-lip stem. This is the second Peterson I bought, and my first estate pipe, bought in 1981. Low calorie snacking follows this smoke. The rain stopped. All the ferals except for Abner the Eager have been inside for a while, snoozin'.

Now smoking Wilke No. 111 in a smooth medium bend 1938-1948 Pre-Republic Peterson Killarney 9BC with a nickel band and a black vulcanite p-lip stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Sleepy Suzy has been by my side for quite a while. Molly Danger is with m'lady snoozin'. Tomato the Brave is snorin' and snoozin' on m'lady's chair.

Now smoking year 2012 Sutliff BRG in a brown medium bend 1970s Peterson 309 Standard sculpted billiard military mount with a nickel ferrule and a black vulcanite saddle stem. Reading baseball news. Abner the Eager was waiting for me, and he's eating now.

Reading baseball box scores with Sleepy Suzy by my side.

Last smoke of the day is year 2020 Angler's Dream in a 2018 natural smooth medium bend Peterson 03 apple silver spigot military mount with a tapered black acrylic fish tail stem. Tomato the Brave interrupted his snoring with a few sneezes. Then, he ran to the kitchen for food. I never tried sneezing as a wake up call, but then again, I'm not an orange tabby.
